    A very interesting story!
    Lets just hope that it won't lead to every last sponge being ripped off the ocean-bed - I don't mean by these researchers, but by the mega-drug companies who will undoubtedly get involved the moment that anything finite turns up.
    Sponges and the fish-life with which they live symbiotically are a treasure of the universe!

      Good article Esra. And gamahuche has a point. Anything profitable ( not necessarily beneficial ) will also be ripped out.

      But since the sea is a great mixer of all things in the environment, sooner or later what we are dumping into our environment will show up in the sponges.

      There are so many things undiscovered in our world. If we want to see what is yet to be discovered we can just go back in history and see how things changes.

      Thinking of the Dr. Pepper thing. I believe that it got its name from an additive thought medicinal at the time - Heroin.
