Posted By TimALoftis 10 months ago in Political News

Remember that story Bobby Jindal told in his big speech Tuesday night -- about how during Katrina, he stood shoulder-to-shoulder with a local sheriff who was battling government red tape to try to rescue stranded victims?

I suppose he felt he had to "embellish" the story if he wanted to be considered a true Republican. It's too bad he got suckered into this speech as he had shown some real potential. Maybe with six years to work on his public speaking he will re-emerge as a leader.

Wasn't this story the very foundation upon which Jindal's ENTIRE speech built?

        LOL.

Jindal's speech was altogether forgettable and hardly earth shattering. Republicans seem to be pursuing a strategy of changing the window dressing, not their message. Its not the predominance of white faces in their party that is causing their problems, although this could be a small factor, but their lack of concern for the welfare of working Americans, the rights of minorities, and the environment. I would like to see the Republican party reform itself. I think they have something of value to contribute. I wouldn't want to live in a one party state, but so far it seems as if they aren't reading the pulse of the nation very well. Its the same message repackaged.
Where Republicans get it right is believing in fiscal restraint, demanding performance from government, and insisting that people take responsibility for their actions. These are good ideas. Where they get it wrong, I believe, is failing to acknowledge that the playing field isn't level and the government has a legitimate role in promoting social equality through education, a safety net, and protection for workers. They should also acknowledge that the environment is important rather then attributing all environmental concerns to socialist conspiracies or tree hugging hippies. What they really need to do, however, is stop taking orders from Rush Limbaugh. Until this clown is marginalized, nothing resembling progress or enlightenment can take root in their party.

comment posted by bluegrass regarding the story...

"So, if I have this right, one senator from LA was convicted of paying hookers to engage in diaper-play with him; the other one changed his name from Piyush to "Bobby" because of the Brady Bunch, and now he's just makin' wild stuff up on national TeeVee, while in the wings there's a porn star and a Christian Rightist waitin' to swoop in.
Here's the question: why in the world are we watchin' fat people lose pounds on TV when we could be watchin "Louisiana: The Reality Show"?
          Posted by BluGrass "

Sooner or later, strategies of lying to the public to make one self look good will inevitably implode. Well...BAM!

Gov. Jintal may have killed his political aspirations for becoming president before they could get off the ground.

              I'm not surprised.

I felt like some weird incarnation of Mister Rogers was trying to sell the same failed laissez-faire economics that got us into this mess in the first place. All they believe in are tax cuts. It's the same Grover Nordquist "drown the government in the bathtub" philosophy they ALL adhere to like it is gospel! I tell ya, if I were a resident of New Orleans (or Ray Nagun, who I do not much care for....BUT) I would be p***ed.

No, thanks! We've had enough! President Obama is taking a page right out of the FDR playbook. We need to get credit flowing again. We need the jobs this will create. We NEED transparency.

And if someone like T. Boone Pickens can make private enterprises out of the green collar economy, we'll be on our way. If we do this right, we'll all be successful and America will be writing its next chapter...

A case in which form and content exactly matched.

The Disney Version of...well, anything, has a powerful pull in America, but Jindal badly misjudged it's usefulness this time around.

                  We're in be-a-grownup-or-perish time.

And this IS the best the GOP has to offer. Of course PC25 and RRJ will defend the lie even after Jindal has admitted it.
