I suppose he felt he had to "embellish" the story if he wanted to be considered a true Republican. It's too bad he got suckered into this speech as he had shown some real potential. Maybe with six years to work on his public speaking he will re-emerge as a leader.

No surprise to this story. You could tell as he was 'delivering' it that it was made up specifically to illustrate a point, rather than a true reflection of something that happened.

But hey! At least the GOP is consistent with its lying to the American public, right? -

Jindal's speech was altogether forgettable and hardly earth shattering. Republicans seem to be pursuing a strategy of changing the window dressing, not their message. Its not the predominance of white faces in their party that is causing their problems, although this could be a small factor, but their lack of concern for the welfare of working Americans, the rights of minorities, and the environment. I would like to see the Republican party reform itself. I think they have something of value to contribute. I wouldn't want to live in a one party state, but so far it seems as if they aren't reading the pulse of the nation very well. Its the same message repackaged.

Where Republicans get it right is believing in fiscal restraint, demanding performance from government, and insisting that people take responsibility for their actions. These are good ideas. Where they get it wrong, I believe, is failing to acknowledge that the playing field isn't level and the government has a legitimate role in promoting social equality through education, a safety net, and protection for workers. They should also acknowledge that the environment is important rather then attributing all environmental concerns to socialist conspiracies or tree hugging hippies. What they really need to do, however, is stop taking orders from Rush Limbaugh. Until this clown is marginalized, nothing resembling progress or enlightenment can take root in their party.-

They may be good ideas, but the Repubs have spent the past 8 years demonstrating to us by their actions that they don't really believe in any of them.

"So, if I have this right, one senator from LA was convicted of paying hookers to engage in diaper-play with him; the other one changed his name from Piyush to "Bobby" because of the Brady Bunch, and now he's just makin' wild stuff up on national TeeVee, while in the wings there's a porn star and a Christian Rightist waitin' to swoop in.
Here's the question: why in the world are we watchin' fat people lose pounds on TV when we could be watchin "Louisiana: The Reality Show"?

I felt like some weird incarnation of Mister Rogers was trying to sell the same failed laissez-faire economics that got us into this mess in the first place. All they believe in are tax cuts. It's the same Grover Nordquist "drown the government in the bathtub" philosophy they ALL adhere to like it is gospel! I tell ya, if I were a resident of New Orleans (or Ray Nagun, who I do not much care for....BUT) I would be p***ed.
No, thanks! We've had enough! President Obama is taking a page right out of the FDR playbook. We need to get credit flowing again. We need the jobs this will create. We NEED transparency.
And if someone like T. Boone Pickens can make private enterprises out of the green collar economy, we'll be on our way. If we do this right, we'll all be successful and America will be writing its next chapter... -
