"The acknowledgment of dozens of destroyed tapes came in a letter filed by government lawyers in New York, where the American Civil Liberties Union has filed a lawsuit seeking more details of terror interrogation programs."

"The CIA can now identify the number of videotapes that were destroyed," said the letter by Acting U.S. Attorney Lev Dassin. "Ninety two videotapes were destroyed."

Hello Ed, Wishing you nothing but good health in light of your past medical procedures. I had wondered about you not posting. All of my best thoughts to you.
With that said, about your new story. Does it really come as a surprise to anyone that there was a possibility of a cover-up .

Our entire government was so corrupt under Bush that we will be discovering egregious violations of the law for many years to come. It's time to trot these people out as they are found out and prosecute, convict, and imprison them!

How can any American be proud of many of the things our government had done the last eight years? The previous government acted more like the communists we denigrated for years. They ran roughshod over our Constitution and spit on the rule of law. This shame with be with us until we prosecute those responsible and show the rest of the world we are not the monsters we are fighting against.

That is so very common for this society, though wrong, the powerful usually win even in a democracy, bummer.
