Obama 'Caves' on 8,000 'Pet Projects' - Further Disappointing Voters »
Posted By GLee 11 months, 1 week ago in NewsConservatives and liberals are in the same boat while watching Obama 'cave in' to campaign promises of only a few months ago.
WASHINGTON (AP) - Despite campaign promises to take a machete to lawmakers' pet projects, President Barack Obama is quietly caving
to funding nearly 8,000 of them this year, drawing a stern rebuke
Monday from his Republican challenger in last fall's election.

He will do whatever keeps him in favor with his DC buddies not the people who 'elected' him to office. They, the common voters, can take a hike now. Such is life in Limo-Lib land. -

We can't spend and spend and spend to get out of debt.
Look at this way.
Let's say you have a $25,000 credit card debt. Do you really believe is you use a different card and start racking up another huge debt, somehow, your all debts will eventually be gone!? Don't know what planet this administration is from, but it's not the REAL WORLD, is it? -

Rahm Emanuel, called the bill and its 8 percent spending increase over 2008 "last year's business.
Obama, who swore off his own earmarks during last year's campaign after seeking them earlier in his Senate career, promised last year to force earmarks down to 1994 levels
Now let's take a look at some of the earmarks in this barrel of lard
Vice President Joe Biden has his name attached to almost $95 million in earmarks
Secretary Ken Salazar is linked with over $227 million in special projects.
One earmark in the bill actually carries Obama’s name - BUT
Rob Blumenthal, a spokesman for the Senate Appropriations Committee said the one earmark in the bill that carries Obama’s name will be edited. The committee will attribute that earmark to other senators on the list of that provision’s supporters, but not Obama.
Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton , Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood , Labor Secretary Hilda L. Solis and White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel also were members of the last Congress, and each of their names is associated with at least one earmark in this appropriation

So much for change you can believe in
When are Obama voters going to wake up and realize they were sold a bogus bill of goods-

Much change going on they are taking it from us and giving it to those that will vote for the chump change given to them as they steal the money and make themselves and their lobbyists more wealthy. The same thing they said Bush was doing, except to them it's 'different' when they do it.

Hey Reid, didn't you say taxes are voluntary? I think I may opt out for a few years, what do ya think, can I get away with that?

Hope and Change was the promise. I kept asking hope for what and change to what. Well now we know. Hope for the money to pay for all of the horrific spending and change to great amounts of spending while all of his cronies get to keep spending earmarks (pork) as they choose. I guess he believe Lenin's statement of "Promises are like pie crusts, made to be broken."

The fat lady hasn't sung yet. This is his team's announcement about what he plans to do, not his. He's the president. I agree, I think he should veto it and send the message.

On the other hand, does he then lose support of Congress? They're politicians through and through, and I don't think Pelosi et al., nor their Republican opposition are actually going to forward a bill without pork. Without a line-item veto, he will eventually have to sign it, or even the budget will not be able to pass. I have no illusions of a Congress that will go along if he does veto the bill. Many of them are as corrupt as lawyers and will play hardball. I wouldn't be surprised if vetoing this one actually resulted in MORE pork in the next (and subsequent) bills.

Obama lied and he knew he was lying when he made all those pie in the sky promises. Funny thing is, look at all the people who believed Obama was going to save the world. The way things are going, Obama may end up being BY FAR the worst president we have ever had. As the markets all fall apart, people are losing their life savings, Obama just continues to spend money like there's no tomorrow, and pretends everything is just fine. Well, things are not just fine, they are going to hell in a handbag. I really beleive this administration is simply WINGING IT. They have no clues as what to do. So, their answer is to spend more money then anyone in the history of planet earth has ever spent before. Obama's budget of nearly 4 TRILLION DOLLARS is pure insanity. Did you know it would take roughly 12,000 years to spend 4 trillion dollars if you spent 1 million dollars per day, ever day, 365 days a year. YES, it would take """"TWELVE THOUSANDS YEARS"""". If that's not insanity, then nothing is. Don't beleive me, do the math! If you're able to run those big numbers that is.
Reply
Here I'll get ya started.
$1 million per day = $365 million per year...go ahead, do the math...as you go along, it really starts to put things into perspective for you. $4 Trillion dollars is an unimaginable amount of money. Spend away Obama, spend our country away. You FOOL.-

Honestly friends did you really expect anything different? This country is in real trouble and with 0bama,Reid and Pelosi at the helm, there is no course, just spend. And all the libs just think it's great, until it's time to pay up. And if you think your taxes are not going to be raised, you are in for a BIG surprise.

Well, I guess the MAJORITY of Americas did expect something different from Obama. After all, Obama was the one promising change. That's why so many voted for him. Obama has already let us down. There's no change, in fact, the only change we have is MUCH more of the same, like TURBO CHARGED the same.

ROFLMAO, the right wing wacks are still smarting from November. it is interesting to note that they whole heartedly supported spending thru the roof which got us into this mess and when its comes time to pay they are whining like school kids who got detentions. I guess if its welfare for the uber rich they have no problem with the mistaken belief it someone trickles down (ROFLMAO) but when money goes where its needed they whine and cry and start yelling about fiscal responsiblility. I think they keep forgetting it was their guy and their policies that got us into this and a month into his first term they expect Obama to have solved a mess Bush and his lame agenda took 8 years to create.

No, but we didn't expect Obama to make it much worse.
He doesn't know what he is doing - Whatever way Pelosi, Reid, and Soros lead, Obama just follows.
He should have kept his promise and vetoed the pork bill. -

HEY dunkirk, Obama's spending makes Bush's spending look like pennies per month in comparison. So, where's the liberal democrat outrage over Obama's spending, we aren't seeing any outrage over it. Do you want to explain this? Or do you want all of us just to continue to call you STINKING DEMOCRAT HYPOCRITES!?
Reply
here's something for ya to ponder
let me put Obama's budget of (4 TRILLION DOLLARS) it into some perspective, if that's even possible to do.
lets say you had 4 TRILLION DOLLARS to spend. Lets say today you started spending 1 million dollars per day, EVERY DAY. 7 DAYS A WEEK, 365 DAYS A YEAR. Can you guess how many years it would take to spend 4 TRILLION DOLLARS, if you spent 1 million dollars per day every day?...are you ready for this.....it would take roughly 12,000 YEARS to spent 4 TRILLION DOLLARS at spending 1 million dollars per day. Don't beleive it, then do the MATH, you will see I'm correct. 12,000 FRICKIN' YEARS!
YES, this administration is completely INSANE. Obama and gang are simply winging it, they have no idea what the F*** they are doing.
If all this spending does not work to get the economy going again, there's no way Obama can blame ANYONE but HIMSELF. They are saying, Obama will spend more money over the next few months, then any one man has ever spend before in the history of planet earth. So, go ahead a try to blame Bush if all this spending fails to help the economy. This is Obama's baby and no one else's. -
