Water Powered Cars | Blue Living Ideas »

Can water replace fossil fuels in our cars?  It’ s possible, and Japanese company Genepax claims to have done it.  The water powered car can run on any source of water, including salt water, rainwater, tea, or soda.  By using electrolysis , hydrogen is separated from the oxygen in water (H 2 O) and used to power the car.

I know that I have beeen saying it should have been done since the late sixties and early seventies.

Good article. I hope they proceed and prove the naysayers to be just what they are. Tools of the oil companies.

LoL. It reminds of that 70's Show, when they are all in the circle and Hyde goes, "Hey man, have you heard they made a car that runs on water. It has a fiberglass air cooled engine, and it runs on water!"

I looked into this about a year ago. You use electricity to split the water molecules into a hydrogen/oxygen mixture... (brown's gas) It may be useful as a fuel enhancer. Brown's gas is a perfect combustion ratio of oxy and hydrogen and seems to increase the efficiency of a gas engine making it cleaner more powerful and use less gas. My uncle, who is a molecular physicist, says that it is impossible for brown's gas to create more energy than is required to split the water molecules so I'm skeptical of being able to use brown's gas as a stand alone fuel efficiently.

Electrolysis has been around forever and a few years ago you'd be right that it takes as much or more energy to separate the H from the 02, however, they've recently come up with low voltage methods of making this happen.
