I really hope they oppose this stupid plan allowing judges to determine the value of real estate is insane.

  God forbid someone with an education and the consumer's well being in mind should help figure out how to get out of the mess the bank created.
  
  Much better that the same bank that screwed these people many times over now gets yet another opportunity to screw them again with the government's help.

      It is if you write an ARM loan for someone you clearly know won't be able to make the payments a few years down the road. And spare me that the buyer is at fault. The person entering into the negotiations with the knowledge and expertise of mortgages is the broker, not the buyer. And at the end of the day, the responsibilty for a bad loan is at their feet.

        These are the bankers who made loans that they knew could not be repaid. Their motive? To bundle the bad paper and pass it off to Wall Street investors who were throwing money at the lenders in order to buy any kind of real estate-backed paper, no matter how bad tha paper might be.
        
        Now that these same bankers are stuck with the bad paper, that they created, we get a sob story?
