Deforestation means extensive cutting down of trees resulting in total destruction of an entire forest. The regeneration and restoration of the ecosystem of the destroyed forest proves to be impossible at worst.

    It really does seem that mankind is hell bent on destroying the world and itself along with it. Fortunately, the planet can probably recover over time, whereas man will probably not recover.

          Read "World Without Us" by Alan Weisman and learn something. Oh, and BTW, you forgot Slash and Burn Farming, which is as big as or bigger than some of your other three reasons for deforestation.

          It has been know you destroy parts of the enviroment something else might just creep up and bite us in the butt.
          Easter Island did not have trees, where did they go? Where did the people go? the animals will not have there natural enviroment to live and they will start going to the farms towns and large cities, not just for refuge, but to eat also.
          what are they thinking? As the first Americans always said, if you take put back, or it will be gone.
