I don't know how it works in Stockton, but at criminal court in Chicago, you go through similar security screening as at the airport. (And for any smartasses out there, I know that from experience reporting for jury duty, not from appearing at a trial.)-

His family even warned the court officials that he appeared to have a weapon, but nothing was done to disarm him prior to the attack. It sounds like it was a total breakdown in security surrounding this case. When the "bad" guy's family is warning that he's armed and dangerous, it seems to me that at least SOMEONE should take notice...don't you think?
