Newhaven, in East Sussex is surrounded by chalk downland, including the famous Seven Sisters sea cliffs and the Cuckmere valley to its east and Peacehaven and Brighton to the West. The closest Channel port to Central London, the harbour sits at the mouth of the River Ouse, hosting a marina and a working fishing fleet. The main heritage attraction is Newhaven Fort, built in the 1860s to deter invaders. Today it offers a warm welcome to anyone looking a look into England’ s dramatic wartime past.
