Obama: Every voice must be heard on health reform »
Posted By azies 8 months, 4 weeks ago in NewsWASHINGTON — President Barack Obama pumped health care allies and skeptics alike for ways to overhaul the nation's costly and frustrating system Thursday and heard only applause and agreement when he told them there's "a clear consensus that the need for health care reform is here and now."

Your health care plan SUCKS. Just look at other countries (Canada) (UK) (France) (Germany) etc...who use this type of health plan. It does not work worth beans. Go do some research, you will learn that the people of these countries are extremely dissatisfied with their health care. Most HATE IT!
Old people are denied care, or at best, are only allowed minimum care.
What's that, you need a new heart, and very soon? To damn bad. Your waiting time will be about 6 to 12 months, so get in the back of the line.
What's that, you need drugs for your cancer treatment, to bad, they cost to much, you will have to pay for that out of your own pocket!
You're a smoker are you, well, YOU'RE DENIED all care. Go to Mexico, maybe they can help you, for the right price.
So, sure Obama, lets do it because it's NO GOOD, you freakin idiot!
You morons who voted this guy into office are going to be one sorry bunch of fools soon!-

You are just buying into the Republican rhetoric as usual. I have a LOT of Canadian friends that live down in here in Florida 1/2 the year. One of them even has dual citizenship and can use both medicare here in the U.S. or the Canadian system if he chooses.

GUESS WHAT YOU IDIOT (as you have already called me) Every one of them says if they needed health care other than a normal or routine checkup, THEY WOULD GO BACK TO CANADA! You talk about the long waits? When was the last time you tried to see a specialist in this country? I have experienced 2, 3, 4 month waits. Transplants? PUHLEEZE, there are people in this country waiting for YEARS, not 6-12 months as you say they must in other countries.
So stop the right wing drivel that is all about protecting the obscene wealth being accumulated by the health care industry on the backs of those in need of care. It's all about the money.....NOT about the people. -

What health care plan? Obama has not proposed a health care plan! The point of the article was that Obama wants to bring everyone together to form a health care plan.
FTA: "The status quo is the one option that is not on the table"
Is that your beef? Are you really prepared to say that no change whatsoever is our best option right now?
Or are you just railing against Obama because, well, he's Obama? -

4thchance, I've been trying to keep from insulting people on the threads, but in this case I have to make an exception. You're an idiot.

From the article:
Although he proposed a plan during the campaign, Obama said that he's open to any solution -- from an entirely private system to more government involvement -- as long as it meets his general priorities. "I just want to figure out what works," he said.
In other words, you don't know what Obama's healthcare plan is yet.
The only way you can judge it is by prejudging it. -

I'm only going to say this once. What Obama is proposing is NOT "socialized medicine." Socialized medicine as you find in the UK, means the government owns the clinics, the hospitals, and the health care professionals are government employees. Now damn it, will those of you who go through life parroting the nonsense you are fed PULEEZE educate your dang selves????

it takes time for all the ramifications and unintended consequences to play out.
tort reform would be the first thing to be changed. once THAT plays out, costs should drop.
IIRC, and FWIW, the french system is the best of the bunch...
the one i like is the 'clear consensus is here to change teh health care system...' comment. that's a 54% to 46 consensus, Mr President.-

I disagree. We shouldn't begin by limiting the amount of damages a malpractice suit can glean, we should begin by drastically reducing the propensity for malpractice in the first place! Tort will reform itself once we stop forcing people to use the emergency room as their primary source of health care. There is no more expensive form of care, nor is there a form of care that is more prone to mistakes.
The uninsured need access to preventative and non-emergency urgent care. Period.

My view doesn't matter, I'm a conservative. He cares nothing about me nor the welfare of our nation. I'd like him to put his money where his mouth is. For all of the people who think the plan would work and save money, sign a guarantee. Put your own resources up and those of your parties. Lets see the DNC, unions and the entire leadership of the DNC do this. Let's see Pelosi, Obama, Reid, and the rest put everything up. When the costs prove higher, we start selling off their stuff. National health is little more than an HMO run by the post office or DMV. SCAM, SCAM, SCAM. Put your own money at risk not mine.

Compared to private insurance, Medicare is less expensive and provides better quality of care. It is far easier to get approval for treatment under Medicare, which doesn't have a staff of people whose job it is to deny care.

It's time to face facts. The USA pays the MOST for her medical care, yet gets the least amount of care per dollar of any other first world nation. -

It's more like the people who voted for Obama need to be hit over the head before they get it!

By then, it's to late, the damage factors will already be in play and a done deal. I'm self employed, I have to pay all my own health care. I have a major medical plan, $3500 deductible with a 2.5 million dollar cap. It cost me around $185 per month. I'm perfectly happy with it, as is. Yes, our health care is very expensive, but many of us can afford it. For those who can't afford it, just let the government pay for your care. I say, just leave the system alone. All except for one part of it. Put laws into place to stop all the frivolous lawsuits against Doctors. These phony lawsuits are a major factor to why our healthcare is so expensive. In short, there's much better ways then the Obama way.-

"frivolous lawsuits" are usually dismissed before the case is even heard, and have nothing to do with the costs of health care. health care in this country costs so much because we have so many commercial interests taking their cut: insurance companies, pharmaceutical companies and for profit clinics, hospitals & hmos.
health care for profit is immoral. our current system also hampers growth of small businesses and makes it difficult for any business providing health care benefits to compete in a global market.
the only reasonable answer is universal, single payer health care. the costs will be borne by a healthier and therefore more productive population, who can pay more taxes. -

The current system whereby the uninsured receive their primary care from emergency rooms is a recipe for malpractice. There are fewer and fewer ERs nationwide. The staff is overstretched, the facilities overloaded, which leads to a higher incidence of cross-patient infection. There is often not enough time for proper diagnosis and a lack of access to a patient's medical history. This care is also the single most expensive form of care, yet it must be provided free to anyone in need regardless of their ability to pay. The costs are rolled into the cost of care of paying patients.

Sound like a good system to you?
How about a system that provides for at least preventative care for everyone?

Mid terms? Ha! Just keep it up Boehner, McConnell, etc. and your minority will go poof into nothingness. The people are pi$$ed and you and your heros like Limbaugh are becoming more and more despised every day. So PLEASE keep writing your bull$hit and being part of the problem rather than the solution. Open letter to the President:

Dear Sir,
As one of the shrinking group of employed citizens I currently pay into private health care (1). I also pay into your health care as a federal politician (2), as well as all federal civil servants (3), the active military (4), veterans (5), and medicare (6). Of course, on the state level I am also paying taxes into the health care of all my state politicians (7), civil servants (8), medicaid (9) and the SCHIP program (10). So, I am paying into 10 programs that I know of, yet none of the beneficiaries of those other 9 programs are paying into mine.
Sir, I believe the reason our healthcare system is failing is that we are running a socialist system and a capitalist system at the same time, and asking the same workers to pay for both systems.
The first decision of reform, throughout the government actually, needs to be to commit to a system.
If you want a capitalist system, then you need to eliminate all the socialist options.
If you want to provide health insurance to everyone, then you need to commit to socialism and create a single payer for all citizens, cradle to grave. And all you would have to do is remove the age restrictions on medicare, put all government employees (federal and state) on it, and open it to any citizen. Paid for with a sales tax on all products so that all citizens pay into it fairly (remember to cut the taxes for the 8 programs just eliminated).
Whatever you decide, please don't try to make everyone happy.
Thank you,
JD Adler -

AS A 69 YEAR OLD RETIRED NURSE, I HAVE SEEN INFLATED HOSPITAL AND EMERGENCY ROOM COST, $10.00 FOR A BANDAID, $500.00 FOR AN EMERGENCY ROOM DOCTOR WHO YOU MIGHT SEE FOR ALL OF FIVE MINUTES. HEY IF YOU HAVE MONEY TO GIVE AWAY THAT;S FINE MORE POWER TO YOU, BUT I DON'T AND I WILL WELCOME ANY GOOD PLAN TO HOLD MEDICAL COST DOWN....YES EVEN SOCIALIZED MEDICINE IF THAT'S WHAT IT TAKES.
