The U.S. Attorney's office suggested in a brief court filing on Friday that Bernie Madoff is ready to waive a formal grand jury review (an indictment). Usually that sort of language is used when a plea deal is close.

      I wonder what kind of deal will be in the works? This man ruined the lives of quite a few people. What would be a suitable punishment? I think taking away all his finacial holdings as well as most of his material things. With all the lives he has ruined, he doesn't deserve to live in any other way than as a pauper.

          I think Bernie's problems were caused by the CRA regulations.

          If he gets probation, that will be disappointing, but not a surprise.

            He even took Kevin Bacon to the Bank! Kevin Freaking Bacon! What the hell kind of deal could this guy get? Surely, life in prison is the most appropriate sentence.
