Update: Rush Limbaugh's 'Doubled Ratings' an Article of Faith or a Lie? »

Posted By MyWayOnNow 9 months, 4 weeks ago in Political News

The claim, appearing even on these pages, that Rush Limbaugh's ratings have "nearly doubled" is under attack today. So far, there are two camps on this: the claim is super-weak, or the claim is a lie. Media Matters stops short of calling the claim, published by the Washington Post's Howard Kurtz, an outright lie ...

Wow, the economy is melting down.
    Wall street is nose diving.
Obama is spending so much of our tax dollars, much of it on PORK, that people are freaking out. Most can't even wrap their head around the astronomical amount of money Obama is spending.
Unemployment is at it's highest rate in decades.
Many of Obama's picks for his cabinet are thieving tax evaders.

The list of high priority problems goes on and on and on...

So, what does Obama want to spend his time on.
    RUSH LIMBAUGH that's what.
Obama really needs to get his priorities in order, and STOP using crap like what Rush Limbaugh has to say to divert attention away from the REAL ISSUES WE FACE.

What the hell does Obama think he's doing. Does he really beleive we don't see right through his diversion of attention. What a dipstick this guy is.

This is for 2 reasons. 1. The dems are looking to divert OUR attention to the real problems and 2. If you like him or not, much of what Rush is saying is the TRUTH. I believe many Americans are happy to see someone speeking out.

Limbaugh is the biggest liar every to have the freedom to spread his bull$hit on our publicly owned airwaves. Doubled his ratings? Arbitron ratings are so screwed up it's rediculous. They sample if somebody listened for one second or one hour and then multiply by 10. Therefore, Limbaugh's REAL RATINGS are 1/10th of what he says they are. When only 12% of the people in this country support and agree with him, you KNOW his ratings claims are just bald faced lies to justify to his sponsors.
If I was a sponsor with a brain cell I'd dump Limbaugh like a hot potato!

I absolutely LOVE the fact that Rush Limbaugh is the LEADER of The Modern Republican Party.

    LOVE IT!

Here we have a draft dodger - (begged to get out of serving his nation because ... he had a cyst on his ANUS) - ... he's a drug addict ... a proven hypocrite - (after years of condemning the ACLU - they were the first entity he ran to when he got into trouble over his 'doctor shopping') -... AND he's an indicted criminal.

But then - when you have a Political Philosophy that is so Morally Vacant that it supports Welfare for the Wealthy ... Lying to Start Arbitrary Wars ... and Keeping Children from getting Health Care ... having a lying hypocrite is just about the most appropriate spokesperson one can think of.

But it doesn't stop at Rush Limbaugh ... other criminals The Modern Republicans listen and watch include ... G. Gordon Liddy indicted criminal ... Oliver North indicted criminal ... Dick Morris frequenter of prostitutes ... Bill O'Reilly of sexual harassment fame ... and ... of course ... the depraved individual who started it all ... Newt Gingrich censured by Congress for behavior unbecoming ... (and I'm not talking about how he condemned Bill Clinton's adultery ... even as he was engaging in adultery himself - I'm talking about his ethical lapses while in Congress).

Of course, it should come as no surprise that people who claim to be Christian Conservatives - such as Endoscopy are most supportive of the Hypocrisy of The Modern Republican ... after all ... how much of a Christian can one really be when they support the agenda of a party that works to protect Insurance Companies ... while simultaneously working to keep children from getting Health Care ... and working to criminalize our Seniors for trying to get affordable medicines in Canada?

Things about Rush that verifiably have doubled:
    (1) His Ego
    (2) His Paycheck
    (3) The size of his Fat Ass

Truly remarkable given the state of our economy.

whats funny is that there were cons on here telling even bigger lies about rush's ratings than even rush was telling us.

last week crazy cons on here were trying to claim rush had anywhere from 14 to 22 million listeners. turns out that, at most, he has 5 million listeners (25 million per week).

      what a bunch of liars.

While Rush has a "large" audience.. when taken as a whole...

he just goes to prove if you increase your market area you don't have to appeal to too many in any given area.....

300 million or so total population.. even if 15 million listen ... 1/2 of 1 percent..

GIVE you show .. in some instances when he started he PAID stations to run the show.. to someone like say Clear Channel 1 show 1500 or so stations.. pay for the program once open a feed and instant revenue.. cheap cost.. = high profit.. Rush and his network. get a couple of commercials each 1/4 hour and every body wins...

in many markets he gets his ass kicked by local shows.. in Palm Beach he and O'Reilly had ratings that barely registered..

        Operation Rushbo update
AKA just how frigging gullible are you morons.

“Before it’s all over, it’ll be called the Ted Kennedy Memorial Health Care bill,” Limbaugh said.
Brian Wolff, executive director of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, called the remark outrageous and reprehensible.”

        Democrats, January 13, 2009:

Senate Lion Ted Kennedy Roars Once More for National Health Care
As Sen. Ted Kennedy enters the twilight of his career battling brain cancer, he will make what could turn out to be his final push to get healthcare legislation across the finish line.

Joining Kennedy in his effort will be former Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle, whom President-elect Barack Obama nominated to be secretary of health and human services.

A spokeswoman for one of the architects of a national health care bill said that any legislation that emerges would be named after Kennedy.

"He wouldn't name it for himself, but the majority of the body working on the legislation would say he's devoted his life to it," said Jude McCartin, a spokeswoman for Sen. Jeff Bingaman, D-N.M., a member of Kennedy's committee. "Now that we're on the verge of doing something major, the naming of the legislation should reflect his longstanding involvement,"

It does not really matter to me what Rush Limbaugh's ratings currently are. Just the fact that he made an 80 minute speech before the Conservative Political Action Conference means that he is a power player in the Republican Party. He refuses to call himself a "leader" of the Republican party, but in truth he is the de facto leader. He holds no political office, yet his word holds sway over all the elected Republican politicians.

This obvious fact is confirmed by the fact that the chairman of the Republican National Committee was forced to apologize to Rush, a RADIO TALK SHOW PERSONALITY.

Can anyone picture Howard Dean apologizing to anyone who works in radio broadcasting?

And it is also glaringly obvious that Rush revels in the limelight and in the wielding of his clout. He constantly repeats the pronouns "I" and "me" in his speeches and in his radio broadcasts. He pointed out and relishes the accusation that Obama worries more about HIM than about John Boehner.

Republicans like to spout the aphorism that America people are generally right of center. That is probably accurate. However, Republicans fail to see that their party for the past 14 years has drifted off to the extreme right. We have lived in the nightmare that was Bush's terms governing from the extreme right fringe.

It was this most painful experience that the people were recoiling against that vaulted Obama into the White House. If the Republicans do not see and correct the extreme, fringe power center in their own party, they will be trapped and frozen in the political tundra they have exiled themselves to.
