Posted By capj71 9 months, 3 weeks ago in Political NewsSen. John McCain was on Fox News Sunday today, where he did an interesting little dance, where he seemed to favor the nationalization of failing banks, but if McCain supports nationalization, does this make him a Socialist too?

It's only recognized as "socialist" if it actually reaches the masses. Corporate welfare is the cornerstone of capitalism, regardless of whether they (the powers that be) admit it or not. Without corporate welfare, our system of "capitalism" would have failed a century ago. The truly amazing part of that, however, is how they've managed to convince the masses who bear the brunt of the financial burden of such a system so the rich stay rich and the poor stay poor, that THAT kind of "socialism" is good while any other form that may benefit the masses is damn near satanic.

Socialism that benefits the richest 1% of the population = good
Socialism that benefits everyone = bad
It's mind boggling..-

I've been puzzled by the wanton use of the word "Socalism" in so many articles, particularly when it appears in conservative criticisms of liberal ideas. I have come to the conclusion that no one knows what they are talking about.
Our country and its economic foundations have been, are, and will always continue to be Capitalism. The governmental bailout or recovery propping was never meant to be a permanent situation or a paradigm shift in our economic philosophy. The government buy-in to banks is meant to support them so that they can continue to function as a Capitalist institution.
For conservatives to scream Socialism is simply a convenient but false accusation just to criticize anything the Democratic administration does. There doesn't seem to be much thought about the real meaning of Socialism nor the economic significance of the recovery efforts.

Looks like he is between a rock and a hard spot. Government must run on common sense and money must have worth to back it. Capitalism has been nothing more than the rich getting more than their worth, which has cause the economy to fall. He couldn't do much talking without incriminating the people that twisted our business laws in to the tyrant system it is today. Now they are going broke and squealing like stuck pigs. I hardly call anything socialism when an illegal alien is put in a job that an American should have had. George Bush made the statement that Americans don't want to work. Then he spoke about how the Mexicans would. That was a red flag on our elected law makers, right there. The message from that seem to be "To hell with the American people of today, they can starve and loose everything they own and the illegal alien can take their place." Looks like a different kind of feudalism is what they wanted. Now three quarters of trying to make a living Americans, are in the poor house.
