BB64, what other marginalized groups, fighting to achieve equal status with the majority, are you tired of hearing about? Blacks? Latinos?

Your objection is the classic rejoinder to those whose assertion of identity creates uncomfortable self-consciousness: if I agree that "those people" are as worthy as I am, and should possess the same entitlements, then I no longer get to feel superior to them.
Then I'm just--me.-

"marginalized groups,"? Who or what you're sleeping with isn't something I give a rip about. I don't understand why now you feel we need to change our customs to meet your needs. Marriage is defined by a man and woman. Are you now claiming because someone is gay, they need to be treated as a special group? Do they get tax credits? Are they disabled?

Most mainstream religions clearly feel this is wrong. I see a constant attack on people of Christian faiths. Marriage is a cornerstone of that faith. Are you now making it policy to re-write our beliefs to meet your standards? If we don't are you going after our tax exempt status?-

You leap to the conclusion that being gay is about the person with whom we have sex. That is no more true than being straight is all about men having sex with women. Some gays and lesbians date, court one another, form families, settle down, and work together prosperously. This is not an attack on your faith. Again, pinhead, no one is seeking religious permission or approval. We are seeking civil rights and civil recognition. Civil unions, sadly, are separate and unequal arrangements. Until they rise to the same level of recognition, gays and lesbians will continue to fight for equality. We will not stop until we get it.
