When I sub-taught in Omaha I found the kids tended to just sit and watch. They didn't ask questions, didn't take notes, didn't participate in any way. This seems different than when I was a kid. Kids I knew used to build things, work on their cars, go, do, live. I think TV is making us a society of spectators. Audio books might be a counter-influence. You can hike in the woods and read Adam Smith at the same time. What could be better?

Thanks Wiki. There are also good things that TV has brought us. The difference in thought about the good or evils of TV are likely to be reflected in the person themselves. It's not the TV or its programming, it is the weakness or strength of the user.

Yes Wiki thanks todays kids would reather sat infront of the TV as long as they could and aways playing vedio games not wanting to move or take their eyes off long enough to do anything. When I was a kid TV didn't interest me that much the only time I watched TV was to see If I could catch a glimps of my brother when the Veit-Nam war was going on, other then that I wanted to go outside and do things not today kid arnt like that anymore.

T.V. has missed the mark so far. Interactive and 3 dimensional medium is necessary (for teaching,) if we want it to be an effective tool. Mostly, we must 'run' it, not the other way around. Any tool is only a good as it's operator's desire to use it to it's right potential.
