Racism on ABC; Limbaugh Ready to Follow Imus »
Posted By Spadecaller 8 months, 2 weeks ago in Political NewsBelieving that he has immunity to the power of public opinion, Rush is following the path of familiar footsteps.Limbaugh followers insist that liberals are guilty of promoting censorship because they seek to remove Rush Limbaugh from his bully pulpit. Posing as the current de facto leader of the GOP, Godfather Limbaugh erroneously claims to generate 20 million listeners per week.
Standing behind the curtain in the land of Oz is a lonely racist drug addict with an ABC microphone and an inflated ego. The people who do not listen and who dislike Limbaugh are getting ready to pull open the curtain and expel him from the land of Oz.

It is up to ABC to determine who uses "OUR" airwaves. Limbaugh’s freedom of speech is not the issue. Like the man on the street corner screaming about the coming of Judgment Day, Rush Limbaugh can rant all he wants about black females with bones in their noses. He may get mugged, but at least the nation will be a better place to live.
Reply
The question that many responsible Americans from both the left and right need to ask is different. Should consumers tolerate the greed and wanton disregard of ABC, who gives a blatant racist access to the nation’s ear because it gets them ratings?-

I'm happy to say that all that I know about this ugly character is what I have read on propeller.
Reply
No one that I knew during the 15 years that I lived in the US ever mentioned him nor did I even know of his existence.
Now that I have been endarkened about him through my 2 1/2 years or so on propeller I'm also developing quite a bald patch from scratching my head wondering a] Why on earth anyone would waste a moment listening to him when they could be doing something really interesting like mowing the lawn or watching the goldish swimming round the bowl b] how anyone with enough intelligence to be able to tie there shoelaces would consider his opinions about anything worth considering of any value whatsoever.
I could see a prima facie case for a) imprisoning him for polluting the airwaves - like loud and pungent farting in public, which I'm sure must be forbidden by many town's ordinances or b) banishing him to the printed page where at least the recycling ethic could be satisfied and much toilet-paper saved.
Of course this is pure opinion, based on no knowledge whatsoever - but isn't that particularly appropriate to a discussion of this unfortunate throwback of genetic mutation?

Thanks g. Are not Limbaugh's loathsome quotes alone enough to conclude that this is not a person that should be privileged with the bully pulpit?
Reply
LIMBAUGH:
1. "I mean, let's face it, we didn't have slavery in this country for over 100 years because it was a bad thing. Quite the opposite: slavery built the South. I'm not saying we should bring it back; I'm just saying it had its merits. For one thing, the streets were safer after dark."
2. "You know who deserves a posthumous Medal of Honor? James Earl Ray [the confessed assassin of Martin Luther King]. We miss you, James. Godspeed."
These are the kinds of comments that one would hear from members of the KKK. Will ABC be willing to tolerate the loss of its sponsors as people become more polarized and irritated by this sickos comments?
Why did ABC give Imus the boot?-

If Rush is so horrid and meaningless why do you take so much energy to make a rant like this? Are you following the White House foolishness of attacking Rush? That would make you a mind numbed robot. Are you doing it for the same reasons? Keep people attention off of the horrible pork laden bill just passed. The magicians trick of diverting attention away from what is really happening.
Poor blinded Spadecaller. Go and take a hard look at the faux stimulus package and this bill. They do very little to help the economy but grow government in a large way. Why do you want to have a huge deficit for our grandchildren to try and pay back. Keep in mind that huge spending bills take money OUT of the private sector where it is needed.

The Limburger crowd just makes more noise and amplify their hate to be heard louder than the rest of us. They really need to be marginalized because they're not a majority but a minority of haters and ignorant rabble. Don't know whether a boycott would work unless you had dedicated boycotters outside the doors of the headquarters and their major stores protesting Rush and his programs.

Thanks. Remember when Fox tried to promote O.J. Simpson's latest book? The reaction sent a clear message to Fox that people would boycott watching Fox News, which resulted in Fox reversing its decision.
All it takes is one individual sharing with another that they will not use Dove soap or shop at Big Lots until Limbaugh is removed, and it will work.
Let me announce here and now that my wife just came home from the supermarket with another brand of soap. When she placed the packets of soap before the cashier, she commented, "We will not be buying anymore Dove soap until ABC radio terminates Rush Limbaugh;s contract."
AS American consumers we need to understand that it is we who have the buying power that can either break the back of any industry in America or bolster the success of any.
Time to wake up and use that power. -

There is the typical hate speech of the left. Calling what the conservative views are hate speech. This spadecaller story is filled with twisted and out of context quotes. But that is what liberals do. Rush always plays the person he is commenting about from way before the selected comment and way past it. Then he dissects what was said bit by bit. Of course liberals cant do that. It might make what on the surface a bad statement something else.

Good god 'no.' I don't want the fool removed. People need to see the slimy underbelly of the GOP. All I want is the progressive voices of this nation given the same air time. I own those air waves too, and it pi**es me off that many progressive stations aren't even given a slot in some areas, leaving the propagandists from the right wing to fill foolish people's heads with nonsense.
Reply
I live in Seattle, and we have ONE progressive station on the radio, delegated to a piece of junk AM channel full of static. And trust me, Seattle is NOT conservative. -

The best path to destruction for a meglomaniac like Rush is to let him think that "whatever comes into that pumpkin of his" is worth saying.
Soon, he will cross the line that will permanently embarass him, brand him, and irrevocably expose his hate creed. It will just take someone like a Murdoch to say "well, enough of that."-

Well O.K. - but where the heck IS that line??
SC's quotes above are way beyond my tolerance zone and I'm VERY big on individual freedom of expression.
I'm afraid that its simply money that talks and there are no other significant considerations whatever - and, above all NO media watchdog with teeth.
In most civilised countries there is some oversight of all media and this kind of crap wouldn't last for 5 minutes.
Freedom with no boundaries whatsoever produces a reality in which individual freedoms are in fact trampled with impunity.
Its interesting how swiftly Murdoch responded to the dead-ape cartoon gefuffle, for example.. -

Many of the quotes listed are from Rush but are clearly taken out of context. Rush is an entertainer or better yet, political satirist. The problem with many on the left is clearly understanding the difference between the news media and a political satirist. I don't blame many because the news products in our country are terrible. Many "news" shows spend more time talking about American Idol or Grisom leaving CSI or the like, they're little more than another ad for the entertainment group. Another problem are shows like Colbert report or other fake news shows. Again, they're entertainers but many younger people think he's a real person.
Reply
Rush is pure entertainer. You don't like him don't listen. The President or his minions in the media are only building his audience by attacking him. I do think Rush has many good points regarding the media and our President. I think the love fest is almost over with most. Some because they're seeing investments disappear other because they're losing advertisers their jobs are directly at risk.-

and personally I don't care if they give David Duke a radio show.. and allow him to say anything he wants..
it actually says more about people who feel compelled to defend a person for saying outrageous things in pursuit of ratings and dollars.. but what do YOU get out of it..
what you .. and you have every right to. consider an entertainer.... says a lot ....
you can put ANYTHING before the public and some people will pay for it.. just surf the internet.. there is NOTHING you cannot find.. and you don't really need to attract a large percentage of people to make money..
Rush's audience is between .03 - .06% of the population.. .. not significant statistically .. not sinificant at all...
he's like Madonna.. a talentless self promoting media wh*re.. nothing more nothing less. -

you are right Rush's comments have been taken out of context. This link is to a personal site with personal opinion, very deep, passionate personal opinion against Limbaugh. It's a free country and Spadecaller makes his opinions known. Another good reason to keep the democrats from resurrecting the fairness doctrine, so Rush, Spacecaller, me and you can voice our opinions openly and freely without censor.
I admire the spirit in the commentary but have to disagree. And I shall do it without one name being called to the poster or any fellow member of propeller.
I like BB64 feel Rush has some valid points about the President.
Here is the speech Limbaugh did for CPAC.

Oh yes. That's why Steele was groveling before Rush, right? For calling him an entertainer?

Not. One. Bit.

-Wait, he was wrong about something?
-Oh get over it, he's only an entertainer! He's funny!
Which is it?
Entertainer or journalist? Those quotes ( please provide the full context if they are truly misrepresented ) are NOT entertaining. Nor do they express a want for change, as satire does.

It's obvious that both propeller and SC feel threatened by Limbaugh. The only hate I see is from leftists, liberals, and Obama supporters like propeller and SC.
Reply
For the people who only know about Rush Limbaugh via Propeller, I can say that you know nothing about Mr. Limbaugh whatsoever. Listen to his radio program just one day for the entire length of the program THEN you may have a hint about Limbaugh. If you are liberal and believe spending our grandchildrens way into orbit is just, then you probably still won't understand the man or his message.
Sharpton and Jackson and a number of other mouthy liberals have avenues at their disposal to express their views on a daily basis. But we only hear from them when they want to stir the racial pot.
Bottom line is that the liberal press (drive bys) are doing their best to silence opposing views on our airwaves and any other media. I, for one, still believe that freedom of speech is worth fighting to keep. -

Rush is a sort of Socratic slob who has corrupted the youth of Athens and now ridicules the jury that pronounces his sentence. I don't listen to him much and I frequently disagree with him when I do, but nothing he says has been more offensive than some of our common catch phrases--references to spades and such. (black as which I am not quite, but my mother was) I find the generalizations about people who register Republican not merely offensive, but obsenely ofensive. Of course predjudice is acceptable when it is in the inerest of the virtuous left, but I think it says more about the offender than the offended.

Liberals don't need reinforcement and brainwashing to know what they believe. They THINK using their own deductive reasoning skills. They have better things to do with their time than listening to talk shows or watching 'loaded' newscasts on Fox! Therefore, progressive/liberal shows don't do well.
Reply
-HOWEVER-
Conservatives MUST have the hateful crap spewing talk shows to help them formulate an opinion and then they run around trying to shove that opinion up everybody else's arse! You dote on Limbaugh and all his hateful wannabe's. It would be OK if you were just wasting your own time, but you waste the time of thinking Americans and insult the intelligence of everyone you come in contact with.
Now go clean your guns and read your bibles you stupid cons!

I can go back to the original radio then TV talk shows such as this one including people like Joe Pine, Stan Borman, Regis Filbin, Jack Parr, etc. They all at one time or other became ego maniacal just like this guy. Limbaugh has taken it to another demonic level with his drugs, brainless rhetoric, bias and bigotry. Worst is that he thinks he speaks for the Republicans. Are we in trouble here as a people and as a country? Freedom of speech is one thing but treason apparently doesn't have the same import as it's meaning. This addict gets paid millions for this ?? Wholesome isn't it?

Bully pulpit? Serving in Congress? Serving in Congress? McCain do without a what? It's clear you have no idea who or what this topic is about. First, McCain and Rush are not friends. Over a years ago, Rush made it very clear that he would not carry water for the party if McCain was running. The two men do not like each other. On the other blathering, every one of the founding fathers would support the freedom of speech used by Rush. I think they'd have problems with Obama and the Obamanomics though. Spending twice what you have on special interests, weakening the general welfare and decreasing liberty. Yea, I'm pretty sure they would be very disappointed in this president.

I'm not sure how you expect that to happen. More people are turning to the conservatives because of the last 6 weeks. More companies closing, less jobs available and the government is raising taxes. For what? Wind machines, solar power, and ethanol plants. Add to that people are now learning about the parties every day or so at the White House and his 4 vacations in the last 6 weeks. Lately we're also asking why the Speaker of the House is using the Air Force supplied plane to transport her contributors and family around the country.

Rush will be the least of your worry. If the taxpayers find out how you've really spent their money you're in trouble. What a joke the DNC has turned into. Hope and Change... 2010, the House and Senate goes Red and 2012, the presidency. That's the new hope and change of America. -

Rush's 4687.5 average number of listeners per week on each station are not representative of the American population. In due time, our voices will be heard and Limbaugh's smack will become radio history. Another footnote about ABC's ongoing saga of exploitation. -

Have you watched any US news shows in the last 8 years? They've been almost exclusively anti-Bush and Pro everything else. Terror, Radical Islam, Saddam, you name it, they liked it over Bush. Now because Rush doesn't like the job Barry is doing you're attacking him. What a bunch of liberal crybabies. You're really going to hate the next few years. We're using the DNC play book on how to take out the trash. It's going to be a very long 2 years for you guys isn't. First the House and Senate then in 2012, the White House.
