International Herald Tribune and AP believe that Obama and Michelle will visit a non-existent Nation »

"Obama and his wife, Michelle, will be in the two summit cities on April 3-4. On April 5 they will end their trip in Prague, Czechoslovakia."
This is the concluding sentence of an article entitled:
"US defense chief Gates to pass up NATO summit"
which appeared, under an AP byline, in today's International Herald Tribune, a newspaper published in France, which was formerly jointly owned by the New York Times and the Washington Post, but which, since December 30, 2002 has been 100% owned by The New York Times Company, after that firm purchased the 50% stake owned by the Washington Post Company.

How can we expect reality in World Politics when renowned media outlets can't even keep track of the realities of European nationhood? The Czech Republic and the Slovak Republic have existed as independent nations for OVER 16 YEARS and the International Herald Tribune, a paper with a great history, published in English in Paris, now fully owned by the New YorkTimes today publishes a story, sourced from AP referring to President Obama and Michelle's forthcoming visit to Prague, "Czechoslovakia". Let's hope that when Obama gets here our dignitaries and media will manage to keep it it clear that he is not the President of Canada or Mexico..

To understand the sensitivity of the Czechs its necessary to turn back the pages of history to the post-war decisions which were made which left the THEN Czechoslovakia in Soviet hands and even to the the "Peace in[or for] our time"statement by Neville Chamberlain, on his return from meeting with Hitler, which required [then] Czechoslovakia to cede the [disputed] Sudeten Lands of North Bohemia to Germany. On the 30th September 1938, in front of 10 Downing St., after returning from meeting Hitler and signing the Munich agreement, he declared: Chamberlain read the above statement in front of 10 Downing St. and said:
"My good friends, for the second time in our history, a British Prime Minister has returned from Germany bringing peace with honour.
I believe it is peace for our time...
Go home and get a nice quiet sleep."
I was born 5 years later into the catastrophe which resulted therefrom, in Prague, with a half Jewish father and a British mother who had worked for the British Council.
Scepticism of political agreements affecting my country runs very deep in my veins - particularly when they are made based on the interests of third parties.
Lets be clear once and for all that the missile shield project is not intended to and does not benefit or protect the Czechs - or the Poles - in any way whatsoever and the hope of the large majority of the Czech people is that the project will be cancelled. The Poles appear to think differently; that's their prerogative. We're VERY different people, with a completely different history. Just for starters they are probably the most Christian and Catholic country in Europe; we are the second most pagan country in Europe, after Lithuania.

Just a little more proof why we need to revamp and fix our educational system. It is broken.

President Empty Suit is regarded as an appeaser in the international arena. All those terrorist nations and groups are watching and waiting. They know their day are here.

IF ONE CAN'T MAKE A POSITIVE COMMENT, ON ANY SUBJECT WORTH COMMENTING ON. BETTER TO SAY NOTHING AT ALL. ALTHOUGH I WILL ADMIT, I MIGHT NOT LIKE WHAT YOU SAY, I WILL GO TO HEAVEN AND HADES FOR YOUR RIGHT TO SAY IT. THOUGH I BELIEVE INEPT TALK AND WRITING, HAS HELPED PUT OUR WORLD AT THE BOTTON OF THE LADDER TODAY. I WOULD WISH WE GET BACK TO THE TOP OF THE LADDER. WHERE WE CAN FEEL THE WARMTH OF THE SUN. RATHER THAN SEE THE FIRES OF HADES. WHICH I HAVE NO DOUBT, WE ARE GETTING TOO REAL A VISION TODAY. UTOPIA, DOESN'T EXIST, I KNOW. BUT IT IS COMFORTING TO THINK SO.

I would hardly call Prague a non existent nation, but great that Obama would take the time to visit a lesser known, beautiful city.
