Recent research by the Pew Center concludes that one in every 31 Americans is in prison or jail or on probation or parole.

Very poorly written article--this is an important topic worthy of more than superficial coverage.

It's true there is injustice, as proven by DNA, and yet violent sexual offenders are released and stalking people in neighborhoods nationwide and they even lose track of the homeless ones.
The system is obviously broken, if proven offenders are loose to offend again while non-offenders languish in jail. But the article is still poorly written.
