Report claims CIA used 'torture' »

The findings were based on testimonies by 14 so-called "high-value" detainees who were held in secret CIA prisons.
They were interviewed after being transferred to Guantanamo Bay in 2006.
President George W Bush denied torture had happened and President Barack Obama has banned US agents from carrying out such practices.
The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has an international role in monitoring standards for prisoners and trying to ensure compliance by governments with the Geneva Conventions.
It was denied access to the prisoners until their transfer to Guantanamo Bay.
Among those interviewed was the alleged mastermind of the 9/11 attacks, Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, who said he was told he would be "brought to the verge of death and back".

Unbelievable. They kill as many Americans as they can. As many jews as they can. Their mission in life is to kill us. Why can't we torture them. This to me is to light hearted. Whatever way we can find out what they are up to or to put one of these monsters who is not yet in jail into Jail is justifiable. Some slob mentioned what justificiation? do you have any kids? Do you value your life? Justification? Umm here is the justificiation. IF we don't find all the terrorists we can and kill them all or have them all detained they will carry out terrorist acts on Americans on our soil and worldwide. By terrorist acts I mean kill multiple americans..is that ok by you? Better ******* jaheeb should be left alone to do as he wants than for my child and any american to be murdered by these racist evil *****? LIfe of any sort is too good for these animals. They should have their eyelids pried open and be made to watch a bar-mitzvah, a passover seder and a bris before being burnt to death. Torture is a means of gathering information as well as making those suffer who have made others suffer and die. We should have 10 guantanimos.

If we could have captured one of the 9/11 planners on 9/9 and suspected a big event what should we do. If after capturing and arresting this suspect and reading him his rights, he refuses to speak, what should we do. What means do we have besides asking firmly for information?

there would have been nothing we could have done on 9/9. even if tortured, he wouldn't have talked...would you?

on the other hand, if we had paid attention to the various memorandum floating around intelligence agencies and in the hand of the national security advisor in the months leading up to 9/11, we could at least have tightened up security at airports and the terrorists might not have been able to get the box cutters on board or gained access to the cockpits.
11th hour saves based on information gained through torture is movie stuff, not reality.

WHATEVER the seriousness of the al-Qaida threat way back “at the outset”, it DID NOT somehow justify HAVING NOW RUN THE WHOLE US ECONOMY (and that of much of the REST OF THE ENTIRE WORLD as well) OVER THE EDGE OF A CLIFF --- which HAS, after all, now been the end result of foolish people here chasing off in every-which direction after any idiot who picked up a mere FLAG and waved it!

For THAT, after all, constitutes the HUGE REAL “SUCCESS” (from the point of view of Osama and company) of the murderous fanatacism of a VERY FEW such vengeful fanatics! THEIR numbers are quite limited. But THEY INDUCED “US” to do THEIR “dirty work” FOR THEM!
The SENSIBLE way to have dealt with the threat WOULD have been to actually get SERIOUS about purposefully IMPLEMENTING the ALTERNATIVE ENERGY TECHNOLOGIES --- which DID AND DO exist --- that COULD have enabled “us" to WEAN “OUR”SELVES OFF OF “OUR” ADDICTIVE DEPENDENCY ON OTHER PEOPLES' OIL. For THAT would have EXTRICATED “us” from the “business” of actually ENGENDERING AND SPONSORING the Osamas and BANKROLLING the Saddams and other authoritarian dictators through “our” purchases of what they had to sell!
THAT would have simply REMOVED the “lucrative” “bone of contention” over which so many “mean, ugly dogs” (including “OUR” OWN gung-ho MILITARISTS!) have long squabbled (and continue to do so). It would have simply AVOIDED the obscene BUTCHERY of about a million people in IRAQ that has resulted, directly or indirectly (it makes no difference which) from all the “collateral damage” inflicted / unleashed (again, no difference which) by “US”.
Would that not have been terribly expensive and disruptive to “our” economy and society? Yes! But it obviously COULD NOT HAVE BEEN ANY MORE SO than that which HAS been done. And guess what! It is STILL GOING TO HAVE TO BE DONE ANYWAY (since OIL TRULY WILL RUN OUT at some point not very far down the road --- and that after NOW HAVING BLOWN the economic advantage that “we” not very long ago enjoyed, which could have greatly EASED what will now surely be a much more DIFFICULT transition. BRILLIANT,PEOPLE!!
Those who now dither and blather over and pick around at the “roots” of the whole sordid business do so really, I submit, BY WAY OF DIVERTING THEIR GAZE AWAY FROM THE WHOLE HUGE TREE THAT HAS NOW GROWN UP AND LOOMS OVER THEIR HEADS. -

Obama can ban anything he wants to,but if we get hit again,and we discover it could have been averted by the same rules that kept us safe for the last seven years.He will find out what the flag, the national anthem,and liberty means.I can't understand this man.It is a sad person who finds himself in a land he doesn't love.

Wow. all thees scumbags, low-life humans beings here advocating torture. 90% of those we have tortured turned out to be innocent people...when we started. Ask yourself, how many of YOUR relatives would you want tortured to find out if they are terrorists?
