An Iranian A-bomb is not the stuff of neocon fantasies. Iran will reach nuclear capability in 2009-2010 time frame, and its drive for regional hegemony makes it an existential threat for countries like Saudi Arabia.

Doesn't matter to the neocon / zionist propagandists. Neither did Iraq have any WMDs and they were able to sucker Americans into that useless war. We will see if Americans are stupid enough to be suckered into another war for zionism. Certainly we will again be subjected to massive propaganda to try to scare us into one.

... There are indeed forces in both the United States and Israel that want a clash of civilizations and are definitely not against further wars, and these forces are powerful. Obviously, the first nation to be affected by implementation of this scenario would be Iran. At this point it is impossible to know whether Obama will want to, or be able to, prevent these forces from dominating future US policies throughout the Middle East.

The more Iran gets closer to producing a bomb the less likely they are to have a bomb.
To me the only fly in the ointment about the 'not producing a bomb argument' is the ABM system deployed in the former Warsaw Pact Nations. -

If the 'civilized world' is interested in eliminating nukes and WMD's in the Middle East, let's start with Israel who has stock piles of nukes supplied by the USA. Oops, I guess that's like ignoring the 'big elephant' in the room!!!

Nuclear technology is no longer a big secret and even the "developing" world has not stood still in the last 40 years. We must be prepared for these countries to advance technologically, and some will choose nuclear technologies. The purpose of the NPT was to get countries to commit to not producing weapons from nuclear technology. Iran is a signatory to the NPT. All they need to do is to open up their facilities to international inspection.

Iran would do well to move away from the Arab world, which does nothing but drag Iran down. The Arab world is stuck on the Palestinian/Israeli conflict. Iran can turn their influence North and East.
