Posted By HOUSEMD 8 months, 1 week ago in NewsVenting their outrage, lawmakers are preparing to slap heavy taxes on employee bonuses at insurance giant AIG and at other companies that have received large bailout packages from the government.
The House was scheduled to vote Thursday on a bill that would levy a 90 percent tax on bonuses paid to employees with family incomes above $250,000 at companies that have received at least $5 billion in government bailout money.

this "president" has spent more time figuring out the ncaa picks than he has instructing congress. this LAW (propasal) is unconstitutional and the president should have known that and told the democrat congress that very thing. instead he is out working on his "hook shot" or now traveling to california to tout up his falling status. you know, i now think the reason he voted Present" on 138 bills in the illinois senate, was he did not read or know what was it them so he did not want to take a chance on voting on anything. he needs to be impeached.

Clinton was doing one of his State of the Nation addresses while he was in office. He figured out right away that they had loaded the wrong speech into the teleprompter. He started the speech off the top of his head, until they loaded the right speech and continued as if nothing happened. Now that's giving a speech.

Heck Obama can't even talk about his kids having milk and cookies without a TP.
He is so addicted to it, that when he gives a speech I feel like he's watching a tennis match or something. Two words, pregnant pause shift right 6 words , pause shift left,,,, no wonder he takes so long. The funny thing is the left saw this as being insightful and thoughtfulness during his campaign.
BUT to his credit, he does speak well and his annunciation is spot on. -

I think the level of your disgust with the fiasco named "AIG" is causing you to project your anger in the wrong direction and has left your mind filled with images of bleeding cysts. Take a step back, breathe deeply and read this blog to get some perspective of where your anger should be placed. Going through the comments from the article I found this link:

It clearly explains where reasonable people direct their anger:
Example 1) - "House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Charlie Rangel, D-New York, told reporters Wednesday, "We can't have any concept of we're getting even, but we must have a concept that we're trying to show that Congress ... cannot tolerate that."
We can't have any concept that we are getting even?
That is exactly what this is."
Antibrainwasher - What do you think of Congress' attempt to single out one group of taxpayers and punish them for receiveing their contracted pay? I'll bet that puts some starch in your shorts.
Example 2) "Then House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-California, said the bill was "necessitated by the poor judgment shown by firms receiving bailout money."
The effrontery of this woman. The arrogance. It would be beyond belief if it had happened before our very eyes today. She is an embarrassment to the nation. She is an insult to the nation.
The people at AIG received the bonuses as the result of contracts previously agreed to. The United States Congress specifically and deliberately inserted an amendment, authored by both the United States Treasury Department and Senator Chris Dodd, chairman of the Senate Banking committee, to allow those bonuses."
Antibrainwasher - Doesn't it just frost your shorts that Pelosi tries to deflect blame away from where it belongs?
-- K9 - add one to the "G" list. I'm certain. -

anti: That's what really bothers me. Sure there's the financial crisis, incompetence at highest levels of government, loss of trillions in our investments and now, outrageous bonuses to incompetent & greedy execs. But mis-spelling incompenence - - no incontinence -- well anyway bad spelling is the height of worrisome things we should devote space and thought to. I myself was trying to find some way to criticize the facts presented in in the story submitted by housemd and, voila! you have found it. Wow - congrats!!

Hope and Change; A new era of responsibility, accountability, and tranparency; Its not the size of govenment that is the issue, it is the efficiency of government; We are going to change the way business is done in Washington; We are going to provide regulation so that we know where every dime of stimulus money is being spent. Get the idea? How could you think this Administration incompetent?

We now need a law which states that any company receiving aid from the government will not be allowed to make any campaign contributions to any incumbent politician.

This would be a gigantic conflict of interest ...

It seems making a special law targeting certain specific individuals is not constitutional or the right thing. It can lead to abuse of power by big government. The bonuses were in some cases very undeserved, but if legal contracts can be broken like this what good are they? And 90% taxation on them specifically? What next? 90% tax on all big incomes?

Everyone is all worried about the CEO pay or bonuses being paid, has but we're hemorrhaging money everywhere in government. Take last night for instance. Hollywood Obama and his stint on the Tonight Show. To move Air Force One, costs you and I over $60,000 per hour not including fuel. That doesn't include the down time caused when his plane enters different air spaces. It doesn't account for costs once he's landed nor the support aircraft carrying the limos, Secret Service teams or anything else. So for a 15 minute visit on an entertainment show, I'm thinking it cost taxpayers over a $1,000,000. In today's business world, every major player is adding teleconference rooms, I'm sure there's one in the White House. Why wouldn't he simply use that? Or does he still think he's running for the presidency?
