59- I have to agree with you. This slip of the tongue is a joke. First we need to stop with all this political correctness and start being adults again. If I cried over evry comment I heard when I was young I would still be crying. This is one problem with America. We have become weak.

Now President Obama was only making a joke about his POOR bowling abilities. I hope he also plays against him. I worked in the military in many of projects for people with disabilities. I think it would also bring more attention to these groups.-

Don't get me wrong....I don't think this needs to be blown out of proportion, but I don't think it is an opportunity that should be missed either. It should be used to heighten awareness and raise sensitivity about this. Because people used to make the same excuses about other "slurs"......."it's just a joke" or "some of my best friends are ____" or "don't be so sensitive..I didn't mean anything by it" etc.

I have no doubt it was said in the most innocent of circumstances, without malice thought or meant in any way. However, that's not the point. This should be used to teach people that ridicule of others (especially those that society already deems to be weak or "imperfect") is not funny. I'm sure Obama realizes this and will take the steps necessary to turn this all around. But it shouldn't be minimized either. It could be a great catalyst for discussion and sensitivity training and I hope it is used that way.
