FTA: "By 1942 Mr Pilecki's organisation realised the existence of the gas chambers..."

Kind of strange.... it wasn't until march or april, 1942, before the gas chambers were ever used.

At least he doesn't go off saying his wife threw him sandwiches over the fence, or that he lived with wolves after his escape.

Good story, thanks for sharing this. It's always amazing how some survived such a nightmare, and helped many others. Heroes in history!

This must be the only case of someone "breaking in"to a Nazi death camp. What amazing bravery, but why didn't Churchill act?Bombing the train line would have saved many lives--great story!

This is one of the many unsung heroes from that time. It is great for him to get recognition after all of this time.

when someone votes to drop a story the reason is usually pretty obvious - libs drop cons - cons drop lib etc .
But why would Schristoforides vote to drop this without any comment pro or con? I don't think it takes much thought to figure out why.

To Hyperbola: that anti-semitic smut happened only in your imagination; holocaust deniers always blame the victims, so quit with your fake history. Your names and dates are incorrect, and your conclusions are meaningless puff - who do you think you are fooling with that crap?

There's so many amazing stories from that time which we, in modern times, have never heard. Anytime even one genuine story surfaces, it's a treasure that can teach us all valuable lessons.

Earthlingerer, actually, the Nazis were experimenting with all type of asphyxiation way before April of 1942.

Yeah, like the Israelis and the Americans experimenting their newly invented weapons on Muslims.
