I'm pleased that she's not falling in lockstep with ultra-conservatives. Of course, neither does her father on many issues, although he did on some (gay rights, for example).

What has come to be known by the more vocal rightwing Republican pundits as "RINO" (Republican in Name Only), represents (in my opinion) the truer "republican" philosophy.
I'm sorry the religious/corporatist extremists have gained such power in the Republican party, and the more totalitarian/socialist extremists have gained so much power in the Democratic party. All of them do a disservice to the citizens in attempting to undercut rights and dictate their agenda.
At least Obama is a pretty quick study, and he's regrouping a lot faster when he makes obvious mistakes. He's driving blind like everyone else--no one knows how to solve the problems we face, and experiments are all we have. His appointments include some leftist hardliners, but they are not successfully herding the extremist base like Rove did for GW Bush. -

barry goldwater's grand-daughter has a radio-show.
she says her grandfather would be ashamed at what the republican party has come to. she said, he would never have stood for any of it. i think she even registered democrat.
barry goldwater jr is also a recent critic of the recent GOP. The previous senator from arizona didn't even endorse McCain. (He endorsed Ron Paul.)
