"It was like being at Sea World because they'd come right up to the boat," said Eddie Hall, captain of the Shady Lady, the 60-foot charter boat that spotted the shiny black sea beasts with white eye patches and undersides. "It was pretty neat."
It was also hard for some skeptics to believe: Orcas, as killer whales are also known, typically are thought to live in cold water and eat seals.

I fish the gulf all the time have never had a chance to see them. I have been told by other people that they are there.

There sure are alot of dolphins. They follow my boat and scare the fish but they sure are cool to watch.
Thanks Eagle eye I'll be on the look out for them.
By the way what is the difference between porpoise and dolphines? They look the same to me.-

Spent most of today trying to figure out the new kitchen in the nest......been looking at so many cabinets and configurations that my EE's are crossed!!
Isn't that some thing about those whales!!! I know over the years there have been some sightings, and I have been here since the 60's and there has never been any thing like this! You would think that there would of been more talk about it before now. I wonder if it is because there is now more traffic in the Gulf that is why they are noticing more or if there is another reason....it is not good news for the Dolphins how ever.

I saw some when I was in Alaska working on the Exxon spill. In fact when we released 2 otters back into the wild an Orca came out of no where and swallowed one of the otters.....what a sad day after rehabbing that animal only to have it eaten.....that was a life lesson in food chain.

I think I saw that on a video on the National Geographic Channel. Not intended as a joke but there was a touch of irony that people were going through a lot of trouble to clean the seals for the whales. What's amazing is the whales with their size have the ability to catch the seals that can swim so fast.

I also liked the Star Trek movie where they had to go back in time and bring back a breeding pair of whales to save humankind.
Rodenberry had a great sight into the future.....wonder if he was having premonitions also......-
