current - The problem with your line of thought is that almost all medical care is not "natural."

Bacteria are "natural." So why do we use synthetic antibiotics to treat most infections?
An appendix is natural and appendicitis is a natural occurence in a percentage of human. So why do we insist on performing an appendectomy which is an unnatural invasion of the human body?
Cancer is a natural result of viral invasion (or chemical carcinogens; who knows?). So why do we treat cancers with powerful, artificial chemicals or artificial radiation?
I am not advocating for circumcisions. I am simply saying that "natural" does not necessarily imply "goodness." Vice versa, "unnatural" does not denote "badness."
As far as putting more thought into our sexual actions, that is easier said than done. Adolescents are notorious for being impetuous, curious, oblivious to consequences, and horny as heck. Many cultures around the world are male dominated and sexual prowess is esteemed. Some cultures in Africa regard premarital pregnancy in a female as proof of her desirability and acceptability as a wife.
How are we going to tell THEM to put more thought into their sexual actions?

The medical establishment has vacillated ofer the years on the topic of circumcision. It was strongly for circumcision in the past, then strongly negative, then neutral. Who knows what the opinion will be in the next couple of years? I doubt that the controversy will be resolved with this article. The literature from the experience in Africa is similar in that circumcised males have lower incidence of STD's, including HIV.

Is this an indication for ROUTINE circs on all male newborn babies? Or should it be done on consenting males who are sexually promiscuous? The problem with the latter situation is that STD's can be sneaky little buggers and many (most?) sexually active males and females already are infected without their knowing.
If more studies bear out this medical benefit of adult circumcisions, should it be a covered benefit by medical insurance or should it be considered an elective plastic procedure? -
