Actually the USA is mostly to blame as almost all of the weapons which are being use by the drug traffickers come from the USA and the population of the USA is so dependent on the drugs.

They should legalize marijuana and use that money to fight the rest of the harder and more addictive drugs.-

One question: are the drug traffickers using full-automatic weapons? If they weren't, they wouldn't be a match to the Mexican military.
Reply
I was to understand genuine full-automatic AK-47's are crazy expensive and very rare antiques now. Full automatic M-16's can only be purchased by the government.
US citizens might have the right to have arms, but they really don't have the right (or ability) to readily get full-blown all-out assault weapons that would match military issue. -

Since the drug smugglers are in fact using military grade weapons (fully autos and .50 cals) I doubt you can even begin to prove that they are US weapons. Unless you are about to show some proof that our military is selling guns to these guys you should re think your position.

What would legalizing marijuana do to stop this? Making weed legal would increase the trafficking from Mexico as every broke Mexican would want to get in on some of the action. Get their piece of the pie so to speak.
Maybe instead of jailing border patrol agents for doing their job we should be enforcing our laws and shooting anybody who crosses the border armed.

We have done more damage to Mexico than just the narcotrafficking in recent years. Indeed, Mexicans were a target of US government / Wall Street manipulations that destroyed their economy before the same medicine was applied to Americans. Interesting to see that Obama has re-appointed one of the chief facilitators of that irresponsibility (Lawrence Summers).

Hillary Clinto said it exactly right. It's the demand that drives up the price and creates huge profits for the drug cartels.
Reply
Even if every single one of the existing cartels were smashed, if our drug-addicted population wants it, other cartels will immediately crop up and suck up the profits.
WE need to do better educating our youth about the dangers of drugs. WE need to create more jobs for our poor so that they will be lifted out of despair and not need drugs or need to sell them. WE need to better support our parents in maintaining intact families and provide better role models than rich pimps and drug dealers.
The proof of Clinton's statements accuracy was shown in the precipitous drop in oil prices due to the recession forcing people to drive less. Less use = lower prices. -
