I don't know which iPod he purchased but Apple releases new products here all the time before introducing them to the international community. Her fellow If that's the case here, the Queen's countrymen are probably green with envy right now.

Update for clueless cons who are no doubt hoping they'll one day market a television which only gets FOX News:
Reply
"The Politico reported that President Obama presented Queen Elizabeth II with "a personalized iPod," and noted criticism of the gift by an "etiquette expert," but did not mention that the White House reportedly said Queen Elizabeth asked for the iPod."
"This evening, the president visited Buckingham Palace for a private audience with the queen and husband Prince Philip. Mr. Obama's gift for the queen? A video iPod with footage of her 2007 trip to Washington -- a gift that "officials say she requested."
--Get that, cons?! She ASKED for the freaking iPod. Now STHU and get a life. Thanks.
Politico cited criticism of Obama's iPod gift by "etiquette expert," but WH says queen requested it

Remember Klarissa you have little to no credibility after the election! You and your trolls are merely sore losers. Lashing back at Obama for the indiscretions visited on your beloved GW.
Reply
In all of this you miss the fact that this IPod was loaded with images the Queen might really enjoy. How dare he give her something sentimental! And whoever bought her the other IPod she has is probably feeling pretty low now. I believe that was Charles. But of course the Queen will dismiss your nonsense. This was not an official visit, it was a visit at the request of the Queen. No matter what Obama presented her you would be tearing into the gift. It is just the sort of people you have become. Angry, pathetic losers. Sure there were Dems in '00 and '04 who behaved irrationally post election but this is mass hysteria. And the funny part is your side is throwing around rhetoric that sounds like it came from Sarah Palin's stump speeches. Didn't the American voter teach you anything? The one thing that really should not fly in the next election cycle is negativity. Keep it up!
Was that a budget your party offered today or an April Fools Joke?-

--Personally, I think Obama should have saved his money and just greeted the Queen with "Amigo, Amigo!" After that maybe he could've winked and leered at her repeatedly and then forced himself upon her with a surprise backrub. Queens usually like that sort of thing... And to round out his virtual gift, he could've pretended to look for WMD under tables and chairs at the palace. Meanwhile, Michelle could've just smiled gamely and nicknamed the Queen "whitey." ;-P

I wish I hadn't watched the video. Embarrassing. One thing though, did you notice the Queen was carrying her purse on her arm. Do you think she said after the camera's were turned off, "We're really sorry but you caught us at a bad time as we have and emergency errand we have to attend to and we have to leave." Wouldn't that have been sweet? lol

Wolfie the D.A.! As you might not be aware (since this article doesn't bother to mention such facts) this was not an official visit it was a visit made at the request of the Queen. She wanted meet America's charming young President and his lovely wife. You will learn (it may take awhile) that this sort of fact twisting should be left to the experts like Rush or O'Reilly. They are professionals, not the rank amateurs we see on Propeller from the Right. Keep your day job.

may be a reason for that. according to some sources around the financial world our 'financial system' may become subject to the IMF organization. if so America will have to play nice and be gracious with the rest of the world to keep borrowing all that money for all of those crazy stimulus bills that congress keeps pumping out when ever the tingle messiah has a financial vision of the future.

Okay what would anyone suggest as a gift for the queen? Lets face it, it is very unlikely she really wants or needs anything. When George Bush jr was at a state diner with the queen while his father was president, he told the queen that he was the black sheep of his family and asked Elizabeth who was the black sheep in hers. I am not saying protocol is not unimportant, but its hardly the most pressing issue right now.

Frctm5, well, personally, I would give her something about Pembroke Welsh Corgis.....she has a fondness for them. Or I might give her a Peggy Bang original of a cocker. We'd talk about dogs, and Crufts dogshow, and Westminster dog show and I'd kiss up to her about all the wonderful breeds that originated in England like the English cocker, and the English Setter, the corgis both Pembroke and Cardigan, the English Toy Spaniel, the King Charles Spaniel, the Welsh terrier, the Fox terrier both wire and smooth, etc. We'd get on famously and we'd be so engrossed in our conversation about dogs and dog shows we wouldn't notice that Brown or Obama or that Chinese dude was choking and almost unconcious at the next table until the paramedics came in to do the Hindlick maneuver on them. I know, because this actually happened, except I wasn't talking to the Queen and it wasn't Brown or Obama who was choking to death and it wasn't in England that this happened. -

The problem for and with cons is that you're always preoccupied with the wrong kinds of "comebacks."
Reply
Nice try, but you're only making liberals appear more stupid.
When a person tries to defend an act by saying "It could have been a lot worse", they are admitting by default that it was bad.
"It could have been a lot worse" also means "Yes, it was bad, but it wasn't the worse thing that could have gone wrong".
"It could have beeen a LOT worse" Let's give examples!
1. He could have given her a *********ture.
2. He could have pulled out a knife, stabbed the Queen and caused an international incident.
3. The iPod could have had wrapper lyrics with swear words on it.
4. The iPod could have been broke. (although it wouldn't matter since the Queen already HAD her own iPod.
So yes. it could have been a LOT worse.
Liberals suck at comebacks.-

--This is an issue of semantics...Say you won a million dollar lottery one day and then the next day you're told that the actual prize you're to be awarded is only $999,999.00. your mistake (and not your first. not by a long shot) was in thinking that I was trying to make some sort of "comeback" when no comeback was in order.
Reply
the gift was fine. I was just pointing out the obvious reasons why it was a good choice.
and who cares, really, except those trying to make something of nothing? (like you, Hhussk)
either way, the gift seemed to work since today all we see are stories about how the Queen wrapped her arm around Michelle Obama in a breaking of protocol and public show of affection rarely seen with the Queen.
so, IPod or not, the Queen was obviously smitten by Michelle Obama, which makes all this nonsense over the gift exactly that: nonsense.
hows that for a comeback?

It was a terrible gift and showed little in terms of forethought.
Although the President was "rude" in terms of protocol towards the Queen, I won't hammer at him. He hasn't been trained in etiquette.
The biggest problem I have with an iPod as a gift is 1) It lacks ceremonial (sentimental) value and substance, and 2) The Queen already had one.
Folks....She already had a iPod.
Couldn't U.S. intelligence have tipped off the President? What the hell is going on?-

"Although the President was "rude" in terms of protocol towards the Queen, I won't hammer at him. He hasn't been trained in etiquette."
--First, he's not a seal. And if you're someone who is used to greeting people a certain way, it's perfectly understandable that one might slip up. I know doctors and musicians who don't shake hands because they fear having their hands (livelihood) injured by someone who grasps it too hard.
"The biggest problem I have with an iPod as a gift is 1) It lacks ceremonial (sentimental) value and substance, and 2) The Queen already had one."
--Again, it's for the Queen to decide if the gift was or wasn't appropriate. AFAIK, we don't know what she thinks of her gift. I have two iPods myself (many people have more than one) and as the technology is updating all the time, I'm sure I'll buy more. So what if she had one already? For all we know, she could be a collector.
Now, if you're worried about how Obama's gift could hurt international relations, just remind yourself that we *could* do (and *have* done) far worse (our former most recent former President being a prime example) in choosing a leader. And I happen to think Obama is doing a great job so far. Not bad at all

Once again you, a liberal, fails to understand what etiquette means. When Obama grabbed the Queens hand with both of his, that was a breach of etiquette. Nothing more, nothing less. I'm sure the Queen was quite forgiving and let it pass. The British media will probably latch on to it for a few days - much like the Gordeon Brown DVD incident - but it will eventually pass.
Reply
And the situation really only passes for humor, not real news. You see, had George Bush given the Queen an iPod, or PM Brown a set of DVD that didn't work, you'd be calling him a 'moron' immediately and stating 'how bad a job he is doing representing this country' and how 'no other country can take this buffoon seriously'. The only problem is....and calm down....this isn't Bush doing idiotic things. This is Obama.

--Now here is where cons fall flat onto their smug, arrogant faces...You'll let FOX tell you what's a "scandal" or a "controversy" and you lap it up like poodles. Obama shook the Queen's hand awkwardly. Contrast that with Bush forcing a backrub on the German chancellor or whatever. Exactly... Night and day difference. And Bush got slammed as a clown by the media AFTER he'd established a lengthy record of disgraceful and embarrassing international behavior. Again, BIG difference.
