Michelle Obama Fever Hits The UK »
Posted By TimALoftis 10 months, 1 week ago in StyleIn the UK on her first visit as First Lady, Michelle Obama seems to be making just as big an impact.
She has attracted as much interest and column inches as her husband on this London trip; creating a buzz with her dazzling outfits, her own schedule of events and her own fanbase.
Outside Buckingham Palace, as crowds gathered in anticipation of the Obamas' arrival, Mrs Obama's star appeal was apparent.

On meeting the Queen, she followed formality by curtseying, but later, during a reception, she showed her more casual, affectionate side by putting her arm around Her Majesty to hug her.
It is reported that the Queen was so taken by Mrs Obama she even said: "Now we've met, will you please keep in touch?"
Unlike W saying the Queen was 200 yrs old then winking at her, the Obama's are a class act! -

Even though you have a complete right to an opinion you could at least post something that relates to reality.

I really don't think the majority of the people are going to fall for this foolishness in the future. The protesters you refer to are literally professionals. In no way a very large gathering. But these people know how to get media attention. Smashing a window always gets the press excited. They are, like yourself, miserable people. And like yourself they have no real solution just complaints. Makes me wonder if perhaps you wear dreads and don't bathe regularly. You don't see ordinary Brits out in the streets. in the vast majority they think highly of Obama. That was certainly not the case on Bush's last British visit. Do you remember that event? Or have you revised it right out of your head?
All of you fools are forgetting that the Obama's were guests of the Queen. She requested the meeting. No gift was even necessary. It is she who decides on the appropriateness of such a gift and there wasn't a single negative comment from the woman. Why do you feel the need to make one? I suppose it gives you the false importance you desire. Pitiful.

President Barack Hussein and Michelle Obama are a blessing to America and the world! It is a shame that they are not appreciated as much by some of their own countrymen as they are by the general population of the world. Kind of reminds me of a great and wise man, sent from God...a builder who was rejected, a prophet scorned by his own...the Son of God, ridiculed, beat down and crucified!
Reply
I do not think of the President as deity, but as a great, wise, God-centered leader. who is trying to steer the country (to the world's benefit) as best he can, out of the depths of despair to which it has sunk! The lessons that should have been learned from what was done to Christ have escaped so many! Truly sad.
Many put their faith and trust in those who only gave lip service to the ideals and teachings of Christ (They talked the talked but in truth, did NOT walk the walk!), and were led down the proverbial "garden path." Yet this leader who, in practice, demonstrates the attributes of Christ but does not go around wearing his religion on his sleeve, they turn up their noses at! Very Truly Sad!!!-

“Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth, thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate Me; and showing mercy unto thousands of them that love Me, and keep my commandments” (Exodus 20:4-6)
If you are going to invoke Christ, at least know what you are talking about. -

You do realize those same words you used are words the world used to describe another world leader in the 1930's. In fact he won Time's man of the year twice I think. We're talking about Adolf Hitler. So if you don't mind, I won't pay attention to your worship of your messiah and actually try to figure out what his end game actually is.
As to his religious beliefs and actions, he is clearly not Christian nor is he of the Islamic faith. Both have very strong policies against abortions, especially late term. Mr. Obama has no feelings towards the sanctity of life. Gee, again like Hitler.
On you last crazy diatribe, what are you talking about? Where has he ever practiced his faith? He voted to support pro-abortion policies. His former minister was a racist that weekly preached hate as a part of his message but Barrack wasn't smart enough or was too busy voting present to hear it. He is not a messiah and will be a one term president. The only good that will come from this whole mess, because of Barrack Obama, President Carter is no longer the worst president ever.

We actually agree here. No one is deserving of blind devotion. I have said it before Obama screws up, drags this country into a greater economic malaise he wont get my vote in '12. I don't however foresee that happening. Optimism should always rule over pessimism. Pessimism cannot drive the market. If you don't consider yourself lucky to be an American even in these difficult times you aren't being optimistic. We have survived worse.

Michelle Obama is more than a fashion-doll. She is an intelligent, charismatic woman, who doesn´t need her husband to spread glamour (Like the moon depends on the sun!). I just feel a bit of envie that our German politicians don´t have such beautiful and energetic wives! Or do they perhaps hide them ...

I don't find Michelle Obama that appealing.
Reply
She has an extremely unflattering figure with huge hips and big legs. Her torso and back appear maladjusted, probably a factor due to poor posture and her height. If you don't believe me, watch her walk. She has to shuffle from side to side, one shoulder dipping, then the next. Comparitively, a duck has a similar shuffle, except it has no shoulders. Observe Michelle Obama walk, and then look at a duck walk. You will notice the comparison.
As well, she constantly has a scowl locked on her face. It appears that it takes an effort for her to smile and push her cheeks up. Normally, this means a very unhappy woman. Perhaps she'll be happier now. By the way, if you take a look at her eyes, they are fairly "droopy", not as bad a bloodhound's droopy eyes, but droopy and pulled down around the outsides.
I watched her appearences during the DNC convention and she face seemed very...unseemly and homely. Almost as if she was angry at everyone there. Also, on the night of the election, when Barack and her came out to the audience, she was wearing an extremely ugly red dress with black "splotches". It exaggerated her figure to worse proportions.
Ultimately, Michelle Obama is no Jackie Kennedy, or even Laura Bush. She's more of a Barbara Bush. The only thing about Barbara is that she was older. -

Are you really this stupid or do you need to work at it? First, Germany has a woman leader so I suspect her wife... She has a very supportive husband and family. If you're going to talk stupid, have you ever heard of a country called France and their President Nicolas Sarkozy? Perhaps you've also heard of Carla Bruni-Sarkozy, his wife? She's a former fashion model, not a community activist with a chip on her shoulder against white America. Carla makes Michelle look like someone's grandma who is aging badly. -

Good comment. She has the potential to equal the influence of a Jackie O. but is really far more substantial in her thinking. Not a knock on Jackie but that was a different time. Nor is Barack screwing everything that moves behind her back. These modern women don't tolerate any of that mess.

I'll summerize again:
Reply
Michelle Obama
Big Legs with wide hips, hunched back, lumbering walk, near-permanent scowl on face, droopy eyes.
In terms of first ladies, I'd have to rank
1. Jackie Kennedy
2. Laura Bush
3. Hillary Clinton during Bill's term. (She was fairly pretty at the time)
Michelle, more or less, ranks with Barbara Bush. Either way, I believe their husbands love them.-

Now hold on. When you're trying to rate first ladies, you're forgetting many of the greats. Mamie Eisenhower, Eleanor Roosevelt, Ellen Louise Wilson, to name a few. Are you going on strictly looks or the way they carried themselves. Mrs. Reagan did much to bring back the pomp to the White House after the Carter, Ford and Nixon years. If you're talking a truly warm and welcoming first lady than Mrs. Laura Bush would win, hands down. If you're talking rather cold, monarchy type, then it would be Mrs. Kennedy. No offense to her, but that was the up bringing she had. In your list, I can't figure out how you ever would include Mrs. Clinton, unless you mean to nominate a doormat for a womanizing pig.
Reply
On Michelle, I think she will go into the history books rather unfavorably.

LOOK AT THE PICTURE OF HER! It's right up at the top. Even in the picture, she's hunched over to one side, with thickly blackened circles of makeup over her eyes to cover up their droopiness. And look at her "smile"...it's like she has to make an effort to force her thick cheeks up...and even then the "smile" doesn't really appear to be smiling.
Not an attractive person. Seriously, why would anyone suggest she is a "fashion doll"? Egads. -

The smallness of soul that is required,
to insult a wife and mother who impresses all the world
for America with her grace and goodness,
- the depth of petty spite in the tepid false
details of how you depict her in the trash heaps of your minds,
- should move us to pity.
Sorry; we aren't that nice.
You have no shame;
no morals;
no taste;
no truth;
no patriotism;
and are damn wrong to boot.
Reboot your souls.
The ones you have now, I wouldn't give to a dog.-

Sounds like the Queen really liked Michelle:
Reply
"While meeting Britain's Queen Elizabeth II in London on Wednesday, the two women briefly embraced -- not your typical scene at Buckingham Palace.
The British media called it everything from a breach of protocol to an extraordinary show of affection from the queen.
The Times of London proclaimed it a "touching moment," and the palace apparently agreed.
"This was a mutual and spontaneous display of affection and appreciation between the queen and Michelle Obama," a palace spokeswoman said.

It is a small thing, in one way.
The American First Lady charmed the queen and company,
in that arena of manners the english hold.
So?
It is a thing to be proud of, if you are an american;
or anyone of good will.
Thanks for the post, Loftis!
