Obama Demands Chevy and Dodge Out of NASCAR »

Today Car and Driver broke the news that President Obama is insisting that Chevy and Dodge stop their participation in NASCAR, at the end of the 2009 season, to receive any additional bailout money.  If the two automakers withdraw from NASCAR, there would be a savings of $250 million between GM and Chrysler.  President Obama made this statement about the issue:

    This is an April's Fools joke but it certainly is bound to show the prejudice against certain segments of the population by the elitists - the joke's on them

      Change the rules on NASCAR to ONLY allow electric powered cars by 2012 and do the same for Formula 1. That would get the development of engines going in the right direction.

      Oh my Lord when I was reading that article I thought it was serious. To me that was an excellent April Fools joke. That if April Fools wouldn't have been wrote in the article a complete fool like me would have not only believed but would have spread. To in turn make me a fool. That was a good one.

          2 things to consider: Car companies have historically dropped Nascar voluntarily over the years, and come back in when economics and technology we better for them.

          And look, this is our tax money and national debt that is now supporting them. Don't we have better uses for our money?
