If we really want to help small businesses, we should have universal healthcare. Healthcare is a huge expense.

If we want to help the auto industry - universal health care, then the pensions and benifit expenses is hugely reduced

If we want our vets to have good care when they get home - universal health care.

If we want our poor kids to be healthy and not be a drag on the system as adults - U.H.

We're the only wealthy nation without it.

    Most of the innovation is coming out of universities. As far as the corporations go - they are doing research on things that pay - not on things that are needed. Look at drugs for depression instead of better antibiotics or the flu vaccine.

    No it's not. Russia, when it was still the Soviet Union invented Lasik eye surgery. They were doing it in the '80's. Americans were flying to Russia to get it done while on vacation.

        As usual when you reply to a comment you disagree with you start out with name calling and end it with name calling.
        
        I didn't make the story up. I honestly thought they did invent it. However you didn't post a link to back it up. It still doesn't change the fact that Russia was doing laser eye surgery and had streamlined it. Doesn't change the fact that they were doing it in the 1980's, one eye a day, doesn't change the fact that Americans were going to Russia to get it done.
