The new law does not require churches to conduct same-sex weddings, but the Church of Sweden, a Lutheran church, and the largest denomination in the country, will consider a motion this fall to allow pastors to perform gay weddings.

    Seven countries worldwide, and two US states, now allow same sex marriages. As more states in the US and nations around the world come to see gays and lesbians as part of the human condition, the laws will eventually become more accepting of gays and less intolerant.
