It is entirely possible that 5 House members in Vermont will change their mind once the Governor vetoes this legislation. It is entirely possible that Vermont will become the first state in the nation to ratify marriage equality without the threat of a court order. Even if marriage equality is denied now, it will come back next year, and the next, until it ultimately passes. Fairness and equality demand as much.
