Two days ago, I wrote about allegations that the New York Times spiked a story that linked ACORN corruption to Barack Obama’s campaign. Last night, Bill O’Reilly played what appears to be smoking-gun evidence — an answering machine message from NYT reporter Stephanie Strom explaining how the editors shut down the story:

    Conyers suggests probe of ACORN
    Calls fraud charges 'serious'

    http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2009/mar/20/co...

In an startling partisan shift, House Judiciary Committee Chairman John Conyers Jr. on Thursday proposed holding hearings on claims the liberal activist group ACORN engaged in a pattern of crimes ranging from voter fraud to a mob-style “protection” racket.

Mr. Conyers, Michigan Democrat and fierce partisan, suggested a congressional probe after scathing testimony about the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN) during a hearing on various voting issues related to the 2008 presidential election.

Mr. Conyers called the accusations “a pretty serious matter.”

“I think that it would be something that would be worth our time,” he said during Thursday's hearing. “We've never had one person representing ACORN before the committee. ... I think in all fairness we ought to really examine it.”

Did the NYT spike an ACORN story to benefit Obama?

    http://hotair.com/archives/2009/03/31/did-the-nyt-...

ACORN says no. The Gray Lady won’t talk about it. But The Bulletin says, Res ipsa loquitur — the thing speaks for itself. They accuse the New York Times of deliberately spiking information that tied ACORN corruption to the campaign of Barack Obama, and doing so for political purposes — and point to Congressional testimony for proof:

A lawyer involved with legal action against Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN) told a House Judiciary subcommittee on March 19 The New York Times had killed a story in October that would have shown a close link between ACORN, Project Vote and the Obama campaign because it would have been a “a game changer.”

Heather Heidelbaugh, who represented the Pennsylvania Republican State Committee in the lawsuit against the group, recounted for the ommittee what she had been told by a former ACORN worker who had worked in the group’s Washington, D.C. office. The former worker, Anita Moncrief, told Ms. Heidelbaugh last October, during the state committee’s litigation against ACORN, she had been a “confidential informant for several months to The New York Times reporter, Stephanie Strom.”

Ms. Moncrief had been providing Ms. Strom with information about ACORN’s election activities. Ms. Strom had written several stories based on information Ms. Moncrief had given her.

During her testimony, Ms. Heidelbaugh said Ms. Moncrief had told her The New York Times articles stopped when she revealed that the Obama presidential campaign had sent its maxed-out donor list to ACORN’s Washington, D.C. office. … “Upon learning this information and receiving the list of donors from the Obama campaign, Ms. Strom reported to Ms. Moncrief that her editors at The New York Times wanted her to kill the story because, and I quote, “it was a game changer.”’

how did this sneak under the radar 4 days before the election

    http://online.wsj.com/article/SB122533169940482893...

An Acorn Whistleblower Testifies in Court
The group's ties to Obama are extensive.

Acorn, the liberal "community organizing" group that claims it will deploy 15,000 get-out-the-vote workers on Election Day, can't stay out of the news.

The FBI is investigating its voter registration efforts in several states, amid allegations that almost a third of the 1.3 million cards it turned in are invalid. And yesterday, a former employee of Acorn testified in a Pennsylvania state court that the group's quality-control efforts were "minimal or nonexistent" and largely window dressing. Anita MonCrief also says that Acorn was given lists of potential donors by several Democratic presidential campaigns, including that of Barack Obama, to troll for contributions.

The Obama campaign denies it "has any ties" to Acorn, but Mr. Obama's ties are extensive. In 1992 he headed a registration effort for Project Vote, an Acorn partner at the time. He did so well that he was made a top trainer for Acorn's Chicago conferences. In 1995, he represented Acorn in a key case upholding the constitutionality of the new Motor Voter Act -- the first law passed by the Clinton administration -- which created the mandated, nationwide postcard voter registration system that Acorn workers are using to flood election offices with bogus registrations.

I guess BIGMOUTH Michelle was right when she said "THE FIX WAS IN"

Incredible....thanks for posting PC. Hopefully, Conyers will do the right thing, regardless of his affiliation, and get this investigated and the truth brought to light....it could still be a "game changer".

And don't forget the negs....personally, I consider a red number in the right hand side of the page the "red badge of courage" for speaking the truth.

ACORN will probably be using dollars they were given in the Stimulus Bill to defend itself on these charges. Sort of makes you sick when you realize that bozo's like Conyers gave the slime buckets millions of dollars of our money in the first place. I have no faith in Conyers, it's just for show.
