Emergancy dispatchers were in contact with some of the people inside by phone, WBNG TV reported, the gunman might still be inside the building, the newspaper reported Bunghamton SWAT Team responded.

Your comment only states your opinion. Had you done your research you would have known the numerous times a law abiding concealed carry permit holder has used his weapon to prevent a crime. In case you don’t know, the main stream media doesn’t report any news on this issue. The main stream media is slanted in one direction, that being anti-gun. Most individuals, you included, don’t understand the gun issue from all aspects. Your view is one sided. One argument you must concede, which is irrefutable, is that a total gun ban (removing all guns from individuals) would only leave criminals, law enforcement, and the military with weapons. There are not enough police to protect everyone at all times and the military is not charged with our daily individual protection so at times we must be able to protect ourselves.

Yes GehLady I think he must have been, what he says makes a lot of sence, even if it has nothing to do with the story.

I think he is arguing that concealed weapons have been used just as many or more times in the prevention of crime than in the commission of it, but the prevention side is not reported by the media. Still, statistics on this issue should exist somewhere, and I would be interested in seeing it.

I have a question: Could someone explain to me how crimes like this differ from suicide bombings?

They mostly don't. The only difference I can think of is that the majority of suicide bombings are planned out by groups and organizations while these are usually loners who have been pushed over the edge.

              Very sad story.

Suicide bombers are told this is serving their god. They will be rewarded in the after life for taking on this purpose. This and the NC shooting are done by people that are in some type of trouble, mental mostly and they see no way out. So if they suffer, then they want all to suffer with them. Misery loves company type of thing. This is NOT scientific, just and opinion from what I think and what I have read about events like this from the past.

The difference between this and a suicide bomber is that the NRA, while not actually supporting the gun user who killed all these people, will likely hold a rally somewhere in the vicinity of this shooting to rally support for gun owners' rights. While a suicide bomber will see no such a rally in favor "responsible bomb use" as a Constitutional right to all citizens.

However, both leave the user and many who happened to be within a close proximity to the user dead or wounded, and a society terrorized and mourning the senseless loss. Thank goodness we don't have a perceived "right to bear bombs" in the Constitution, huh?
