But given that the Obama team has already beaten the Clinton administration's first term record of three canceled nominations and the rate at which they are racking up nominees with tax problems, we think there is a good chance they can top Mr. Clinton in this regard.

I have wondered about this issue since Daschle was ejected from nomination. This is one thing that baffles me. Even Kathleen Sebellius with her tax issues. What the heck is going on?
Reply
This issue has no party line in my disappointment. I understand that, right now, Democrats seem to be leading in tax evasion...but I am equally disturbed by anyone in government who raises taxes and doesn't pay their own.
Still, what's with the vetting process in this administration. Something is terribly wrong here.-

Planning for the Prosecution of High Level American War Criminals
Reply
Massachusetts Law School
September 13-14, 2008
"Since the impeachable installation of George W. Bush as President in January of 2001 by the U.S. Supreme Court’s Gang of Five, the peoples of the world have witnessed a government in the United States that has demonstrated little if any respect for fundamental considerations of international law, human rights, and the United States Constitution.
What the world has watched instead is a comprehensive and malicious assault upon the integrity of the international and domestic legal orders by a group of men and women who are thoroughly Machiavellian and Straussian in their perception of international relations and in their conduct of both foreign policy and domestic affairs. Even more seriously, in many instances specific components of the Bush administration’s foreign policies constitute ongoing criminal activity under well-recognized principles of both international law and U.S. domestic law, and in particular the Nuremberg Charter, the Nuremberg Judgment, and the Nuremberg Principles, as well as the Pentagon’s own U.S. Army Field Manual 27-10 on The Law of Land Warfare (1956), all of which apply to President Bush himself as Commander-in-Chief of United States Armed Forces under Article II, Section 2 of the United States Constitution."

Bush Administration Nominations That Failed Due to Scandal
Reply
* Linda Chavez - nominated, Secretary of Labor - withdrew her nomination in January 2001 amidst revelations that an illegal immigrant lived in her home and worked for her in the early 1990s. Chavez blamed what she said were the “search-and-destroy” politics of Washington.
* Timothy Flanigan - nominated, Deputy Attorney General (also Alberto Gonzales’ top deputy at the White House) - withdrew his nomination in October 2005 amidst revelations that he’d worked closely with lobbyist Jack Abramoff when he was General Counsel for Corporate and International Law at Tyco, which was a client of Abramoff’s.
* Bernard Kerik - nominated, Secretary, Department of Homeland Security - withdrew his nomination amidst a host of corruption allegations. Eventually pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor relating to improper gifts totaling tens of thousands of dollars while he was a New York City official in the late 1990’s. Subsequently, on November 8, 2007, Kerik was indicted on sixteen counts for bribery, tax fraud, and false statements with a maximum sentence of 142 years and more than $5 million in fines. Kerik has pleaded not guilty. For a rundown of Kerik’s myriad indiscretions, check out TPM’s Ultimate Kerik Scandal List!.
* William Mercer - the former associate deputy attorney general and US Attorney for Montana - withdrew his nomination to be the permanent number three official at the Department of Justice on June 22, 2007 due to his role in the U.S. attorney firings.
* Hans von Spakovsky - Commissioner, FEC - nomination to another term after his recess appointment failed due to allegations that he’d worked at the Justice Department to suppress minority voter turnout.

BREAKING: White House lost Over FIVE MILLION e-mails in two year period
Reply
"Through two confidential sources, CREW learned that the Executive Office of the President (EOP) has lost over FIVE MILLION emails generated between March 2003 and October 2005. The White House counsel’s office was advised of these problems in 2005 and CREW has been told that the White House was given a plan of action to recover these emails, but to date nothing has been done to rectify this significant loss of records."
"It’s clear that the White House has been willfully violating the law, the only question now is to what extent? The ever changing excuses offered by the administration – that they didn’t want to violate the Hatch Act, that staff wasn’t clear on the law – are patently ridiculous. Very convenient that embarrassing – and potentially incriminating – emails have gone missing. It’s the Nixon White House all over again."

"There was just one drawback to DeLay's fundraising campaign: Texas, like many other states, prohibits the use of corporate contributions to fund political campaigns. To avoid breaking the law, DeLay's political action committee sent $190,000 directly to the Republican National Committee, which is allowed to fund individual campaigns. The contribution was sent along with a list of seven candidates "with totals next to their name totaling, coincidentally, $190,000," noted Craig McDonald, director of Texans for Public Justice, a nonpartisan public interest group that filed a civil complaint to against TRMPAC in 2003. "Those checks were then sent back to those candidates, having been laundered -- that is, turned from corporate money illegal in Texas to clean non-corporate money."

The same reason why Al Gore consumes almost 10 times as much electricity as the average person while preaching about conservation. Most libs consider themselves to be above the masses - and therefore not subject to the rules that they want to impose on everyone else.-

You see they view this country as a democracy, not a republic, which is how it was formed. They think the power comes from the government, not the people. We need to set them straight. The US is a federal constitutional republic, not a democracy.

"In sum, the evidence showed that Sampson, Williams, and Goodling violated federal law and Department policy, and Sampson and Goodling committed misconduct, by considering political and ideological affiliations in soliciting and selecting IJs [immigration judges], which are career positions protected by the civil service laws."
Reply
"In sum, we concluded that the evidence showed that Goodling violated both federal law and Department policy, and therefore committed misconduct, when she considered political or ideological affiliations in hiring decisions for candidates for career positions within the Department. In particular, the evidence showed that she considered political or ideological affiliations in deciding several waiver requests from interim U.S. Attorneys, in promoting several candidates for career positions, and in disapproving a candidate for an EOUSA career SES position."
"The report also details some of the questions Goodling used for her interviews, here's a pithy little excerpt:
Tell us about your political philosophy. There are different groups of conservatives, by way of example: Social Conservative, Fiscal Conservative, Law & Order Republican.
[W]hat is it about George W. Bush that makes you want to serve him?
Aside from the President, give us an example of someone currently or recently in public service who you admire.
And our personal favorite:
Why are you a Republican?"

As far as Obama serving two terms, I do SINCERELY hope he can see the errors of his ways, and then correct them before the next election. Under those conditions AND ONLY UNDER THOSE CONDITIONS, I can see him getting re-elected.

But what is it that is said about a large spotted wild feline animal (common in the country of BHO's father's family) "changing its spots....????"
However, if he continues to stick his thumbs in the "eyes of the Constitution," I think the terms "one-hit wonder," "flash in the pan," "in way over his head," and "like a bull in a china shop" (to say nothing of the term "quasi-Socialist") will more than likely be his legacy.

Everyone has been talking about how screwed up our tax system is for many years but nothing is ever done and it just gets worse. Penalties and interest raked in around 40 billion last year alone and who knows how many people went to jail.
