Obama Mortgage Stimulus Plan is at Least an Effort, What Did Bush Do? »

Posted By ChangeToday 7 months, 3 weeks ago in News

During the first full month of the Obama Mortgage Stimulus Plan there have been many critics.  Many have expressed their concerns that this is going to cause a moral hazard meaning that people will try to screw the system.  Another complaint is that it is still very hard to refinance or get a mortgage because the big banks and mortgage lenders are not lending any money.  My question is, “ What did Bush do?”

Let's see! Bush gave multi million $$ contracts, without bid, to Haliburton, which Cheney had part ownership in. Bush sat in a classroom, with a book upside down, while our country was attacked. Bush took us into an illegal war against a soverign nation. Bush demanded and got a blank check for the first 6 yrs of his presidency, then when he couldn't get everything he wanted the last 2, he went on tv and talked about congress like dogs. He ignored and didn't even demand an investigation when billions came up missing, not once but twice! Bush said he was the "decider" and that the Constitution was just a G/D piece of paper, then he disregarded the Geneva Convention and allowed torture of detainees! He borrowed and spent until he put the nation into bankruptcy, but now the cons are trying to say it's all Obama's fault! lol..

Those are just a few of Bush's accomplishments i can think of off the top of my head! But Obama's trying to pull us out of the mess Bush put us in, that's grounds for cons to hate him, and pray for his failure!

let's stay on task here, N2N. the question is: "what did Bush do with regard to the banking crisis."

    RIF.

i know. i know. when someone says 'Bush,' you just start spouting election rhetoric. you must be a barrel of laughs when someone talks about Bush's baked beans, or female pubiic hair...

seriously. W punched out and vanished, leaving the democratic congress to call the shots, abdicating power a good 8 months before he left. this fiasco is almost completely democratic leadership owned. the republican sin is one of omission. the democratic sin is one of commission.

N2N. Look at what you invited in. Endo loves the war. He's happy that over 4200 American soldiers died for nothing. It's just a barrel of laughs that over a million Iraqis died for nothing except to make the Rich and powerful more rich and more powerful. There are some real creepy people in the Republican sphere.

He just loves it that the Bush Administration drove this Country into bankruptcy.

He's happy because he's espousing the Republican Party corruption and immorality. What an Ideal to aspire to.

Endo and Beavith1 are so full of it that I can see that they are anti everything that stands for moral and ethical conduct.

N2N they are Republicans. That is why I call for the end to this immoral Party. They do not have the good of America in their vision. The are everything that represents evil.

Join me in never voting for a Republican Candidate again. Lets get rid of this sewer dwelling Party by shunning them out of existence. You see what the Republican faithful stand for and I don't think it is something that the majority of Americans want. I used to be a Republican, but the old Party has gone crazy.

Couple of comments on the story as well as some of the above comments. I will agree with the idea that it is to soon to judge whether this plan will work or not but even President Obama said we have only one chance to get this right which to me means he is gambling the family fortune that the proposed spending will work. As for even bringing up former President Bush I sort of feel that is a waste of time since the problem he was trying to address was the credit problem not yet the mortgage problem. In the story it said that in the last three years something had gone really wrong, I think that statement doesn't really cover the whole scope of the problem that we are in right now and it has been building for many years under different governments, to me it is a situation that the party is now over and Former President Bush was only to blame for buying the last keg of beer.
As for the comment about Former President Bush and what happened in the school classrom on the day of 9/11, I have often though about what I would have done when someone tells you that your worst nightmare has just happened. The president is an important person but he is just one man and other people have to make decisions every day in regards to carring out certain actions for your country, what sort of image would it have left if the president had jumped up and left the room or let out a long line of four lettered words. Honestly people to me this was one time that I feel he did what a president should do and that was show that he would not get flustered, stop and think about it, what would you have done as the president in that situation, even politely excusing ones self would not have changed what was happening.
Sorry for the little rant but it is something that I have thought about at times and I realize what a thankless job being the president can be.

N2N its a good story why not tell how we really feel, Bush was a FAKE and could care less for this country or the people in it. you just about sumed it all up in your frist comment. Republicans are greedy and they are all going to fight against Obama anything he does. But they need to remember one thing they were voted in and can be voted out to. Obama well show them all hes trying and Bush never did try anything.

Bush, in June 2002, issued a statement in the white house saying that everyone should be able to own a home and that the lenders should make it easier. THAT was the start of the downfall of the mortgages. It was NOT Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae, it was NOT Barnie Frank, it was GEORGE W. BUSH. My wife worked in the mortgage business. I remember her coming home one night and said Bush has put us in the tank. These mortgages are all going to fail. SHE WAS RIGHT. But the stupid A$$ republicans try their damndest to blame anyone but themselves! LOSERS.

VOTE OUT ALL REPUBLICANS IN 2010!

Here we go again more communist blabber. When you see garbage
being spilled onto the screen then consider it
anti-Americanism.Not just Democrat thinking because a true Democrat is somewhat patriotic but rather Liberal nonsense that is obviously not for the America that changed the world. I hear that Capitalism does not work. Why is it that no country in the world has come close to being as great and wonderful to live in as the U.S.A. We have Communist hiding in the bushes all over this recently open border country trying to destroy the America. The News Media does no longer report the facts, just the side of the Communist. People like Currick, Brokaw, Williams, etc. doesn't know what real Journalism is suppose to be they have become Propagandist where as true reporting has become a thing of the past. One sided propaganda is what we are faced with and it is sad but it doesn't stop there. Here
are some aliases that President Obama pays to sit at their computers all day long and blabber this anti American sentiment. They spend hours at the evil machine spreading moron statements like it's the fault of Bush. Hey! he is gone we have Obamanism to worry about get a life read some real facts not the Media indoctrination agenda. They are on welfare, (love living off us the ones that actually pay their salary), Illegal aliens that we, the real workers, support, the wealthy retired politicians that have and still are stealing money from
the heart of American workers or they are simply individuals that Obama has on his payroll to keep spreading this jibberish to keep the normal people off balance. Here are some
monikers. not2needy, hyperbola, jovial, dunkirk, mecormany,
psychohosebeast, ruahanddabar, cham, elishava156, omma987, coboygrampa, dionys, jeboba, vizion, newperson, sparechange, caliqugen430, gdrb41,nowayman and others. When you here Anti-American comments click on the name and see how much time they spend at the computer trying to throw us off the Real Americans. However, their money from us will one day run out
and then they will be looking for sympathy from us and guess what? They will be on their own to face the Commy Regime. Pity the Pitiful.

Have you ever seen a republican that didn't love war?? They love anything that has anything to do with killing one of their own species, and they love wiping out whole species in their evil quest for oil. Anything that fills their pockets full of ill gotten gains is a good thing to them. You put it right, they are pure evil, and need that party needs to be ended!

This party will not be brought to its end unless the criminals are taken to face justice for the human slaughter.

why does every liberal completely dismiss the video evidence from the house banking committee showing Frank, Dodd and Waters glorifying Fannie and Freddie. While regulators and republicans including John McCain were screaming about the potential disaster. Dodd took a sweetheart mortgage from Countrywide and the banks CEO is one of the richest men in the us raking in over 500Million dollars in less than 5 yrs. This disaster was created by giving mortgages to those who did not qualify. It has very little to do with Bush. The first round of TARP approved by Bush was wrong, the 700 billion stimulus was wrong the 4 trillion dollar budget is wrong. This president will be a one term joke and cause so much damage to the dollar our rights and future generations it will take a miracle to dig us out.

Bush had nothing to do with six trillion dollar theft. This was one hundred percent a democrat debacle.Obama was a big part of it,walking up,and the streets of Chicago black mailing banks, and mortgage companies to make loans to people irriguardless of their ability to pay it back. That's what community extortionist do.He got his training at the Jackson-Sharpton school of skulldugary.Reagan, and Bush 41 put a stop to giving away houses, but bless his little pointed head,Clinton just had to re-open that can of worms.A little late but a couple of months ago he confessed he that he shouldn't have done it.I don't care what what the left says or does, they don't have a clue.

I see that long drawn out comment I made was removed as spam. Not knowing the definition of spam as applied by Propeller, I may be guilty.

But the comment contained three links to take any reader to the
            1) List of bailouts since 2007
            2) The site for U S Budgets so that the reader can compare the last Bush budget with the first Obama budget
            3) The site for the annual U S Comptroller Generals Report for the year 2006 where General Walker expressed alarm at the fiscal policies of the Bush Adm and how it was headed for bankruptcy.

A couple of other things were in there also but the three above is information that any serious commenter should have the opportunity to read if they are interested in the truth.

Send me a message and I will furnish the site links if you are interested.

GW Bush did exactly what he should have done, stay outof the home mortgage crisis. Banks should have had to foreclose and eat their own ill advised loans, unqualified borrowers hsould jhave had to move on and learn their lesson, and we the tyaxpayer should ahve been left out of the bailouts. Unfortunately the Democrats can't liev with the idea of a person be ing responsible for their own decisions and having to live with the consequences of their actions.ow we have a leadership who's only solution to any problem is too write a check with money in the bank to cover it. They pay the penalty for the overdraft and delay the ineveitable which is mortgage failures anyway, mismanaged companies failing anyway and lots of overtime down at the Treasury printing more money and thus destroying the very value of the funds most of us still have in our possession. No one wins but the same incompetent borrowers and lenders who caused this crisis in the first place.

Not2needy - please provide your evidence that Dick Cheney is a part owner of Hlliburton. As an ex employee of that company that did work for it while Cheney was there a CEO (1995-1999), I think I am in a better position than you to opine on his poition in that company. He was brought in after GHW Bush left office after the Gulf War 1. He was the Secretary of Defense under Bush 1. His contacts in the arab world were his entry card into Halliburtons- construction wing-Kellogg Brown and Root. When he was selected as VP candidate for GW Bush in 1999 he was given a golden parachute deal which amounted to around 4 million in severence package. After that he was not connnected to the company any further, something prohibited by Federal election law btw. And to further dismiss your rantings and assertions, Haliburton/KBR has been a preferred governemnet service provider since back in the WW11 era victory ship construction days. Its original main shareholders came from the family of famed Democrat Lady Bird Johnson, who guided it with many contracts thru the Vietnam period. I worked for this company over 20 years and they weren't ashamed of their history, never really hid it from the public, and are no different from any of the other huge American contractors who regularily perform service contracts for the governemnt. ie.. Bechtel, Parsons, Fluor Daniels, and many more. The reason they got nio bid awards is because they have a long track record of successfully getting the job done. Presidents Eisenhower, Kennedy, Johnson, Nixon, Reagan, Bush1, Clinton and finally GW Bush have all used them repeatedly in this type of work. I omitted Carter because from what I can tell he didn't really do much of anything constructive in his one term in office. Something I fear is in store for our current President, Mr. Obama.

This is the one about U S Comptroller General David Walker.
As I said in the Spam delete, If you don't want to read the whole 182 page report, just scroll down at the site until on the left you come to Walkers summary about the Bush Adm performance. If you want to see the actual report where the summary comes from, locate the report then go to page 162 (

Please read enough to note that the Bush budget did not include the war costs or the bailouts of his time ( Around 10 Trillion )
