Posted By bruhaha 9 months ago in Political NewsLately I’ve been consuming as much conservative media as possible (interspersed with shots of Pepto-Bismol) to get a better sense of the mind and mood of the right. My read: They’re apocalyptic. They feel isolated, angry, betrayed and besieged. And some of their “leaders” seem to be trying to mold them into militias.
At first, it was entertaining — just harmless, hotheaded expostulation. Of course, there were the garbled facts, twisted logic and veiled hate speech. But what did I expect, fair and balanced? It was like walking through an ideological house of mirrors. The distortions can be mildly amusing at first, but if I stay too long it makes me sick.
But, it’s not all just harmless talk. For some, their disaffection has hardened into something more dark and dangerous. They’re talking about a revolution.
Some simply lace their unscrupulous screeds with loaded language about the fall of the Republic. We have to “rise up” and “take back our country.” Others have been much more explicit.

We go to church to elevate our blood levels.
I got lotsa friends at my church here in Ocala ... (the most bee-u-tee-ful place in America) ... and they useta go to the Catholic church or the Presbyterian Church.
They said they got bored on accounta all the preacher did was talk bout peace, bein accountable, social justice, read passages from teh Bible ... (the new testimint) ... hold hands and sing.
What most annoyed them though was that the teachins from the BIBLE dint match up with their POLITICAL perswasions.
For instance - Cletus thinks that Goerge W. Bush shouldnta stopped at Iraq. He says GW shoulda invaded Iran and North Korea too! Kick that ole Axis of Ebil in the rear end.
But the preacher at them other churches talked bout PEACE and how good peace is.
I suppose you can guess what them preachers thought bout Torturein them enemy combatants.
That just dont do it for PATRIOTIC Americans liek us Christian Cosnervatives. We liek war. And the torture thing was just liek addin sprinkles to our whippy cream on our pancakes. It just gets our blood to pumpin!
Poeple need that kinda stuff to know we are alive.
We believe in PASSIUN. The passiun that is equal to our massive self loathin at bein the cause of Jesus bein naild to the Cross.
See, it was our sins that put Jesus on that cross.
Our preacher tells us at every opportunity taht we are no good sinners who are goin strait to hell.
As such ... why would we want to watch ... say Bill Moyers with his dispassionate observations and calculations?
Dont make no ding dang sense!
We want Sea Shanty Hannity tellin us the world is comin to an end!
THATS what we want to hear!!

My sign says "We dont want no Moslim runnin th White House".
My wifs sign says "Bring Back TORTURE ... Bring Back Bush".
My sones says ... "I dont know these poeple".
I asked him what hes tryin to say with that but I couldnt understand what he said.

If only the real Christian conservatives could be as funny as you instead of so scary serious about the sentiments you presented.
Unfortunately, being a modern day Christian conservative means to do things in the name of your religion that contradict the teachings of Jesus.
They know in their hearts that Jesus would change his mind about all that yucky peace and love stuff if he was around today to see how different things are. I guess they don't believe that Jesus was resurrected and that God is watching or maybe they'd believe the Bible really was the word of God.-

Why all of the lies Goppy. Is truth so hard for you to say? It becomes obvious that you really do not understand what Christianity is all about. Almost every line is incorrect. The only one you have correct is, "See, it was our sins that put Jesus on that cross." Then you say the opposite of what that means. Very good indication that you really do not understand.

Charles Blow has it correct. Add to this that the Republican Party feels empowered and entitled to act the way they do because of 30 years of shoving their philosophies in to every nook and cranny possible. They've convinced themselves that they are the only representatives of the American Spirit and only "their way" can save America from itself.
They are delusional and dangerous. These kooks are the real enemy combatants that all of America should be worrying about.
What the Republican Party (should be Neocon Party) doesn't get is that the "majority" of "American" people have resoundly voted against them in two consecutive election! This is a statement! By the People! The message: "We The People" are tired of this dangerous band of lunatics pushing their moronic agenda of apocalyptic destruction down our throats! These pretenders are not my father's Christians, they are not fiscally responsible, they are not representing the Constitution or We The People in a way that makes America a better place to live, or safer, or prepared for the future!

The real reason I'm fired up is because I believe that these neocon lunatics are so warped that they would rather see apocalyptic destruction than put up with one more day of Obama in office.
They can't believe that the Bizarro World they've created has unraveled and they've been exposed for the switch and bait artist that they are. And, what I mean by switch and bait artists is their uncanny ability to wreak havoc and then shirk responsibility for their actions. These Republicans I see in congress today are not the Reps of Ronald Reagan. Nor are these demacrats the Dems of my 89 year old grandmother. She's voted Demacrate her whole life and allmost voted Republican in this last election. What she has seen our government tuning into in these last several weeks is allmost sending her into the gave after my grandfather. She watches the news these days and just shakes her head in disgust and walks away.

What we believe about America ...
- Torture is a good thing and should be practiced freely by our military
- America should spend unlimited amounts of money on the military
- America should saber rattle all round the world - telling nations to do what we say ... or else
- America should just overthrow nations we dont liek - then throw money at those nations to provide all the things to THEM that we dont supply our own citizens ... liek health care, expanded edjamacation, etc.
- The presdient should take revenge on citizens who criticize him
- The presdient should be ABOVE the law ... if hes a Republican ... and if hes a Democrat ... he should be hounded by our Right Wing media.
- America should provide massive Welfare to the Wealthy
- America should protect corporations from malfeesance against the middle classes
- America should work to keep children from getting access to Health Care.
That last one is a biggie for Christians in America ... we support EVERY effort by our Republicans to keep children from getting adequate health care.

Funny thing about the Oakland shooting and the Pittsburgh shooting. In Oakland, the black community cheered this black mass murdering cop killer rapist. He was a hero TO THEM. Black commentators took to the air to DEFEND the black community in Oakland.

As a resdient of Ocala having growed up in Tennessee ... I can only speak for the Christian Cosnervatives between Florida and Tennessee.
Of course ... every church I go to tells me Im gointa hell if I vote Democrate ... on accounta abortion.
Course, thats basically a cover ... the real reason the preachers want us to vote Republican is on accounta there is a massive effort to keep children from getting access to health care ... liek kids have in every other industrial country.

My hope is that these people never put down their pitchforks and start a group called The Weathermen, start making bombs, plant these bombs at several locations like police stations and the Capitol building and the Pentagon, advocate anarchy, start fires at the homes of New York state supreme court justices, try to break drug creators out of prison, be rehabilitated in the eyes of liberals, become Citizen of the Year in Chicago, get on the cover of Newsweek for being mistreated and return to normal society. The real problem with your views are the same problem most right-wing thinking people have, you throw out terminology and philosophical views without realizing the yen-yang relationship between those you oppose and the one you identify with.
Another facet of your view is in wanting to be hurtful by accusing liberals of being communistic or socialistic when real they are neither. Liberals are true democrats...those that believe in democracy. Conservatives believe in a republic, hence republicans. If you believe democracy to really be communism or socialism, which are very different btw, then you set yourselves up as the polar opposite and must then admit that you either really believe in nazism or fascism.
You see the difference between liberals and conservatives is a philosophy of live and let live without exclusions based on race, gender, sexual orientation, color, or religious/non-religious affiliation. Conservatives are very exclusive and believe the rights of the individuals within their exclusive group. However, anyone NOT of their group should be carefully monitored and suspected of any number of characteristics which may be a threat to the exclusive group. The rights of anyone NOT in this exclusive group can also be negated without due process because of the conservatives' double standard of American citizenship.
Basically, Christian conservatives have never been about democracy, but about the restriction of freedoms. This philosophy is contradictory to the beliefs of the Founding Fathers and to the principles of democracy.
