Posted By TimALoftis 7 months, 2 weeks ago in SportsPHILADELPHIA (AP) - The beginning of the baseball season is always a time for optimism. Derek Lowe and a little known rookie center fielder gave Atlanta Braves fans plenty of reason to feel good about 2009 on Opening Night.
Lowe sparkled over eight shutout innings, allowing just two hits, and Jordan Schafer homered in his first major league at-bat as the Braves cruised past the world champion Philadelphia Phillies 4-1 to kick off the 2009 season.
