Obama bashed the Iraq War from Great Britain to Turkey. He further insulted the troops by telling them that now was the time to start transferring sovereignty to the Iraqis.
Lost on Obama and the mainstream media was the fact that 13 of 18 provinces were already completely under Iraqi control and the other 5 are close behind.
This point has since been scrubbed from the WSJ article.
Don't expect the mainstream media to report this.
They got their photo-op. That's what's important.

“We were pre-screened, asked by officials “Who voted for Obama?”, and then those who raised their hands were shuffled to the front of the receiving line. They even handed out digital cameras and asked them to hold them up.”
Take a look at the picture at AP and notice all the cameras are the same models? Coincidence? I think not.

The war and the troops are two completely separate things. You can certainly celebrate the sacrifice and heroism of the troops while criticizing the leaders that decided to put them in harm's way without any real purpose for the American good.

He was apologizing for the horrendous policies the neocons had imposed on our foreign policy. He was apologizing for the lack of sincere diplomacy used. vor, ornd is a good woman and strong BO supporter. I believe she misinterpreted his comments as did the article in this post (what else from PC). He was speaking of the leaders that sent the troops into Iraq and badly mishandled the war so as to cause problems for the rest of the world and for our financial problems that have caused difficulties in many national economies throughout the world. In no way were his comments aimed at troops current or in past history.

If the people who write this kind of garbage would take two seconds to think rather than knee-jerk react, they would realize that what President Obama is trying to do is repair the damage caused to this Republic. Our troops have died all over the world in the name of freedom, but during the last eight years the President and Congress have not lived up to the promise of that sacrifice. They trod on the Constitution in the name of security and poured the lifeblood of our troops down the pit of the "war on terror" while creating more terrorists with their backwards and unthinking policies.

I don't expect that those who hate him by intentionally being blind will see it, but there is a time to fight and a time to talk. Now is the time to talk. If we must fight, and there comes a time when that is necessary, we must fight for the right not for some half concieved notion of "security". Bkumm, I think you should bear in mind that most of the people posting these kinds of stories don't believe they have flaws and don' believe that their country can do any wrong--when Republicans are running it, that is. Now that Democrats are running the country, the neocon floodgates of bitterness, bile, hatred, filth and assorted dna and bodily fluids have been opened and the mantra (lie) of support thy president no matter what is a distant memory to cons. You're dealing with people who will pimp their own children to turn a buck or to get a tax cut. Clinton would not and esentially could not act. After the rampant criticism he took after trying to take out Osama Bin Laden in the Sudan on 8/28/08. He was immediately accused of "wagging the dog". Left virtually impotent as his impeachment trial was pending. He wasn't getting the congressional support he needed any longer.

Go under Iraq/Middle East. Go to the archives and see the letter sent in January 1998 that included Cheney's signature (and all members of PNAC) demanding military action in Iraq. This was prior to the Sudan attacks. Clinton told them no, sanctions would continue but no military action. So your insinuation is far from correct.
Insinuations (political rhetoric) are not actions and until the Bush Presidency it was the President who made these decisions then took them before Congress. Clinton has a massive ego, no one was going to tell him what to do. No such spine on GW. -

The uncertaintanty that led to the war was exacerbated by the administration. A few more months of inspections and the IAEA would have told us the information we did not know on WMD's. That what we assumed was not true. That Saddam no longer held such weapons. Funny the Germans also warned us about "Curveball" (if you don't know who he was Google his name and bio weapons). He provided the most damning bio weapons intel that turned out to be false, the same Powell was disgraced with at the UN. The Germans had originally inerrogated him. They told us he was a pathological liar and a drunk. But I suppose they were acting in Iraqi interests for telling us this before we made fools of ourselves.

It's great to remember the past greatness of America. But taken in the context of the invasion and occupation of an oil rich Arab nation that wasn't a threat to the world remaining super-power, nor did it particpate in the attack of 9-11, President Obama was spot on. -

When I was working in the Middle East on assignment, I used to see stories & photographs of Bush & Cheney hugging & shaking hands with the Saudi Monarchy & the Sheikhs in the UAE, Bahrain & Oman on tv. Which we don't get to see here. Our former President & his buddy Cheney, while in office, were continuously striking oil deals w/the leaders in the ME.

I haven't seen any photographs & stories linking President Obama with anyone in the ME talking about oil deals. In my opinion, President Obama is just saying what he says to introduce some diplomacy into our relationship with the ME countries & the rest of the world. I remember after the 9/11 tragedy, we had the entire world grieving with us & for us, willling to support us 100%. Had Bush gone after the people responsible for 9/11, instead of invading a country that was not even remotely connected to 9/11, there would be no need for President Obama to strike a diplomatic tone now.
I am not in 100% agreement with everything President Obama has said. However, I am 100% confident that he is working hard & doing his best to get us out of the recession. His policies & ideas will get us back on track in the long run. President Obama is doing the best he can, with all the problems Bush left for him -
