I highly doubt this bill will pass in the Senate. It seems unlikely that 50 Democrats will pass this bill as a number of them would accept civil unions, but not full-fledged marriage for gays and lesbians. If the city council vote were sufficient to set law in DC, then we would be rejoicing in the streets. Because Congress must act on this legislation for DC, I doubt it will get to President Obama. Even if it does, he will veto it.
