Life After Castro's Revolution: A Look At The Inside of Cuba »
Posted By GLee 8 months, 2 weeks ago in NewsDon't get me wrong here..... I think better relations with Cuba should be welcomed by both sides. We can both better ourselves by being good neighbors but let us not take this approach: "Cuba has relations with every country in the Western Hemisphere, 15 countries," she told us, excluding America. "America is the country that's isolated, not Cuba." -- Rep. Barbara Lee, D-Calf.
The Cuban press was having a lot of fun at capitalism's expense. The lead
story in the eight-page Granma - named after the yacht that brought the
young Fidel back to Cuba to begin his revolution in 1956 - usually concerns
the anniversary of an historic action on the part of the Castros, Che
Guevara or even more antique heroes. But the second story, on this occasion,
encompassed a piece of credit crunch schadenfreude: the number of suicides
in the US was growing, according to the Samaritans; in Italy there were 16
million people living in poverty; and so on.

Barbara Lee is a total intellectual zero and a fabulous liar. Imagine trying to convince the people of the US that everything in Cuba is sweetness and light. My question to Ms. Lee is if this is true then why do thousand of Cubans risk their lives and the lives of their children in tiny and often homemade vessels to leave this island paradise every year?

"Lee's delegation is sympathetic to Cuba, with most of its members openly praising the country's communist government while decrying U.S. policy."

Castro's government have long argued that while Cuban officials publicly call for an end to the trade embargo, they strive to antagonize Washington so it will keep the sanctions in place. The critics say Cuban leaders want to be able to blame the country's problems, from restricted public Internet access to chronic food shortages, on trade sanctions.
Communist, socialist....... maybe we can learn from them? BUT PLEASE, NO APOLOGIES for the life they choose to live.-

Castro can attempt to blame Cuba's problems on the US but the truth is that Cuba is able to trade with all other countries of the world. If his form of government had worked Cuba would be a paradise. Unfortunately, socialism/communism has never worked anywhere not even for Fidel in Cuba. Actually, it's a fact that the US does do some trading with Cuba because they have been buy rice from Arkansas for several years.

The have been waxing poetic about the Castros all day on MSNBC.....I guess they have forgotten that he is a dictator, been in power for over 40 years, kept that power by threats, intimidation and assassination. They should ligr the trade embargo if for no other reason to bring down the price of Cohibas.

Maybe the MSNBC dweebs were only babes in arms or not even a gleam in their father's eye when Castro conspired with the USSR to place missiles with nuclear warheads in Cuba pointed at the the US. I won't forget and I make sure my children and grandchildren will remember that Castro is a slimy, scumbag dictator who wants to destroy us.

Who's taking the side of the dictators? The parts of the article that I read basically laid out the horrible conditions in the country.

Think of the hearts and minds of the people that we could win if we started to lift the trade embargo. Instead of having Cuba siding with Venezuela against us, maybe they could be siding with us. Keeping them down does nothing more than keep them against us.-

OH yeah? They sat down with this murder like he was Uncle Fidel which actually validated him as a person. Bobby Rush said he was like a family member with a keen sense of humor.

With all the problems and hardships in Cuba they still have one of the best health care systems in the world. Everyone from Castro to the most pitiful beggar in the street has access to it for free.
