Posted By dissent 8 months, 3 weeks ago in NewsThousands of people loyal to an Iraqi Shia leader have gathered in Baghdad to protest against the US' continued presence in the country, six years to the day after the capital fell to American troops.
Supporters of Muqtada al-Sadr rallied on Thursday in Firdous Square, where the statue of then-Iraqi president Saddam Hussein was pulled down on April 9, 2003.
The demonstrators waved banners and carried pictures of al-Sadr, calling for an end to the US occupation of Iraq.

the fact that six years ago we invaded iraq, today we continue to occupy iraq, in the meantime we have caused directly or indirectly the deaths of over a million iraqis, have caused 2 million to flee iraq, caused another 2 million iraqis to become refugees in their own country, have destroyed their infrastructure so that they have no water, no electricity and massive unemployment, ignited secular conflict, built 14 permanent bases and the largest imperial embassy in the world all completely escapes your feeble, demented and incapacitated intellect so you can prattle on with your usual phobic, paranoid-schizophrenic drivel.
