America's Imperial Wars: We Need to See the Sickening Reality »
Posted By jovial 7 months ago in NewsBut then I had to do a major project in my humanities program and I chose the Vietnam War. As I started researching this paper, which was supposed to be a multi-media presentation, I ran across a series of photos of civilian victims of American napalm bombing. These victims, often, were women and children-even babies.

The media doesn't show you what happened during that drone attack or what's happened in that attack in Sudan or the Congo. It just reports that so and so many people died, but the pictures of the actual suffering isn't shown. Would America be more willing, or less willing to support foreign wars if the images of these wars were broadcast in to their living rooms?

It always seems that those who are unfamiliar with the horrors of war are the most willing to send others to fight for their freedoms.
The rhetoric of the right says we are close to a victory, but the latest reports show a surge in suicide bombings and killings. What does victory look like? -

You are evidently a FOOL. "Your" military isn't just "taking out your trash". They and their entire collection of "camp followers" are waltzing off with the whole accumulated wealth of this society. And folks like you just keep on endlessly buying into their bullbleep. There is ALWAYS a WITCH BEHIND EVERY TREE!
Hate to have to point out the obvious, folks, but in reality things really remain pretty much as they have been. The TRUTH (for Obama no less than for Bush before him, and indeed for a succession of "administrations" of one sort and another going back many years now --- all the way back, in fact, to the "establishment" of "modern" "Iraq" (by its surrogate “father"--- who was really WINSTON CHURCHILL!), is that “Iraq" really NEVER HAS actually been a REAL NATION!
What it ACTUALLY is is a CHIMERA, cobbled together out of three INcompatible ethnic groups, who have been more or less "ordered" by "the West" to bind themselves (very UNnaturally) together into a "nation" to suit Western “interests" vis-a-vis "controlling" the OIL resources these poor people happen to have the misfortune to possess.
They are supposed to "serve" as the "counterweight" to "offset" IRAN --- and if such an "overriding" consideration as THAT ends up ultimately resulting in obscenities like the dictatorship of a Saddam (SPONSORED and BANKROLLED by "US", through "our" buying so much of what he had to sell!), followed by winding up as CANNON FODDER in "our" squabbles with practitioners of "terror" who naturally arise who would drive "us" away --- well that, one is supposed to suppose, is “just tough".
What utter ARROGANCE on "OUR" PART!
You know, folks, it really simply is not possible to make a silk purse out of a sow's ear. It would have been much SMARTER --- and probably in the long run much CHEAPER too --- to get OFF of "OUR" ADDICTIVE DEPENDENCY ON OTHER PEOPLES' OIL. And the truth is that the technological ALTERNATIVES to actually DO that REALLY DO EXIST!
In the AUTOMOTIVE "arena", in particular, "we" could (and SHOULD!) have LONG ago now already started building ELECTRIC / I.C.E. CHIMERA CARS in preference to trying to establish and perpetuate a CHIMERA "NATION"! -

none of those were american wars of conquest.
face it. americans don't have the stomache to be 'bad guys.' we have enough 'jiminy crickets' to keep the whole country honest.
even if some of our decisions came from rage, there will always be enough of our fellow countrymen that have no problems calling other countrymen POSs.

Why is it that some folks seem to imagine that things that have been "legendized" and relegated to the "dustbin" of "history" are somehow supposed to be regarded as no longer RELEVANT.

Your an Idiot. Your own words prove you can not think past your next meal and nap. If the slaughter of civilians is O.K. with you, you are immoral and need a god. If you think these "people would think nothing of killing you" Who told you that? What a dumb ass thing to think, where did that idea come from, Rush or some other factless Fox freak of deception? It is against all international law to kill civillians, it is against American law to kill civillians, it is against Christian, Muslim, Budist andall other major and minor religion's teachings to kill non combatants. Killing non combatants is called "Terrorism" you stupid f###. If you want to be a citizen of a terrorist state then move to Saudi Arabia or some other morally deficient place and get your, no fact, stupid, immoral, stinking thought pattern out of my country. You are not "free" thinking enough or "brave" enough to understand that the ememy of the United States is this kind of irrational, follow the flag waving murderous kooks right here in America.-

Folks need to wise up. "Our" FINANCIAL system really has NOT been the actual SOURCE of the fiscal problems for which it is now being "hung out to dry". Rather, it has simply been USED. And YES, it certainly HAS incurred a BURDEN OF COMPLICITY IN --- but NOT really the PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY FOR --- the much LARGER misdirection of resources and capacities of this society as a whole.
Reply
What has been done by mere financial MINIONS (e.g. all those moneylenders who conjured up and “marketed” those "toxic assets") had as its REAL objective (regardless of whether the fact was THEN or even is NOW consciously recognized by those who "played the game") of DELAYING and STAVING OFF the economic collapse that has now occurred --- in effect "passing the buck" off to the NEXT generation of "leadership/stewardship", and precluding the public outrage that rightfully SHOULD have rebounded in a much more TIMELY fashion on the "political faction" that has been so hell-bent on clinging to "our" little "financial" OIL EMPIRE for a bit longer, in preference to actually getting SERIOUS about IMPLEMENTING the technological alternatives to ACTUALLY WEAN "OUR"SELVES OFF OF "OUR" ADDICTIVE DEPENDENCY ON OTHER PEOPLES' OIL!
To make matters even much WORSE, such technological alternatives ALREADY DO INDEED EXIST, and have LONG EXISTED --- contrary to the notion propagandistically cultivated among the HUGELY techologically IGNORANT preponderance of most of "our" "body politic" that any meaningful change is always dependent on "exotic, futuristic" NEW developments in laboratories over, say, the next fifty years or so.
The TRUTH of the matter is that by the application of very OLD technological concepts, applying to the mere AUTOMOBILE things worked out MANY YEARS AGO NOW ALREADY in much HEAVIER-DUTY systems, "we" could LONG AGO now already have EASILY flat-out ELIMINATED about THREE-FOURTHS of all that importation of oil to refine into gasoline to fuel "our" vehicular fleet!! -

Now however OUTRAGEOUS and OUTLANDISH that assertion may sound to many, make no mistake about it: the ACTUAL TRUTH is that PRECISELY THAT genuinely IS the implication of the new ELECTRIC / I.C.E. "chimera" concept exemplified by the (now highly BELATED) Chevy VOLT, and now also its upcoming Europen counterpart (jovially dubbed the AMPERE) --- involving BATTERY POWER carrying the car some number of miles (in the case of the VOLT, FORTY), and an internal combustion engine then kicking in if and only if that battery runs down. But FULLY THREE-FOURTHS of all personal automobile usage "fits" within a forty-mile power budget! You go to the store, bank, doctor, etc., and you come back home AND PLUG THE CAR BACK INTO THE WALL. THE INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE NEVER RUNS!
Reply
Actually, BOTH components of the "chimera" are VERY OLD technology. ELECTRIC cars have been around since the very EARLIEST days of the automobile. And the I.C.E "fallback" component, which involves a petroleum-powered motor --- coupled NOT to an eleborate, troublesome, expensive TRANSMISSION and DRIVE TRAIN but rather to a GENERATOR that supplies ELECTRIC motors (which had been driven by the BATTERY until it ran down) --- is a paradigm implemented on a MUCH larger scale on the RAILROADS and also in the LARGEST SHIPS on the high seas. Anybody ever hear of the DIESEL-ELECTRIC LOCOMOTIVE??
I submit that all the folks who now dither about the "meltdown" of the "financial sector" are in reality BEING DIVERTED AWAY from what rightfully SHOULD be the MAIN object of their exasperation --- which is the FAILURE of "our" PAST MISguided (or maybe more like MISBEGOTTEN!) MIS"leadership" / MIS"management" to fulfill their ACTUAL duties and responsibilities to the membership of “their” society --- which WOULD have been to OPTIMIZE THE CHARACTER AND QUALITY OF "OUR" PRODUCTS, RATHER THAN MERELY MAXIMIZING "THEIR" MONEY!
Now I wonder how THAT sort of recognition must weigh on all the folks who have THEMSELVES been lured off into fighting that little "OIL war" over in Iraq, or who may have even LOST loved ones there?? Yeah, it is a HATEFUL realiztion to be sure. But is it REALLY somehow "better" for people to just meekly erect a "psychological defensive barrier of DENIAL" of reality, and to instead let their RIGHTFUL wrath and ire be "harmlessly" diverted over to and dissipated on, the mere practitioners of artificial hocus-pocus involving "our" "FINANCIAL SYSTEM"??! Would not THAT actually merely COMPOUND the REAL swindle that has been foisted off on the REALLY aggrieved victims??!
