Governor Ritter has conferred some semblance of recognition to gay and lesbian couples. Why should they be denied rights without due process? The Republican right wants "to keep gays and lesbians in their place." In particular, they would prefer gays and lesbians remain deep in the closet. This bill takes the first steps out into the light of day. Note to Colorado: You have a long way to go to catch up with Vermont and Iowa.

This is still a stupid law. Marriage is a legal agreement between two parties. What their gender is should have no bearing on the legal agreement. It is the same as any other legal contract between two people.

Separate but equal is never equal. Soon we'll have hundreds of laws for each race, religious group, gender, etc....
And they wonder why government is inefficient.
