I don't know if Pres. Obama was or was not directly involved in the final "go/no go" decision in this HOSTAGE situation, but clearly WHOEVER may have been responsible for waiting patiently for the RIGHT moment, that WAS the RIGHT thing to do. I'm amazed at some of the "cowboy/yahoo" mindset of some of the posts I've seen (already) that absurdly attempt to SOMEHOW ascribe EITHER "blame" OR "credit" to OBAMA --- who, after all, is only this nation's POLITICAL leadership.

What is REALLY needed in connection with all of this nonsense is to organize the shipping in the area into CONVOYS for SAFETY. And in the even LONGER run, what is needed would be to actually REDRESS the bona fide ECONOMIC and other GRIEVANCES of the Somalis --- WHICH ARE, IN THE LAST ANALYSIS, WHAT BRINGS SUCH PEOPLE TO SUCH AN "ENTERPRISE" AS "INSTITUTIONALIZED" PIRACY IN THE FIRST PLACE!-

It's time to pull Blackwater completely out of Iraq so they can have a new venture. Hire out their thugs to the shipping companies. Have heavy weapons, helicopters, etc. on every ship and blow the bastard pirates out of the water when they get within range!

You are asasinine in your assertion about the cause of piracy. We had the same situation with the Barbery pirates and Jefferson sent in the marines. He had met with their ambassadors before he was president. They told him they were just carrying out the Quran and hadith. You will probably get the same result today. The terrorists are right in line with this thinking. But the liberals always have to come back and blame us. Silly liberals.

Since it seems that there are still plenty of Cowboys around, and when was the last time you heard of Bands of Comancheros, Train Robbers, Highwaymen, Rustlers, etc... Running Wild all over the Place? I Don't understand why you would want to abandon an Effective Counter-measure, that is Unafraid to confront those who would do us harm, or are planning too?
It seems to me that the More we Subsidize Poverty, the More Poverty, (and resultant Criminals), we seem to generate, and isn't that the Cruelest Side Effect of Well-Intentioned Governmental Policies?
How many more Crimes have to be Committed, Innoncent Lives have to be lost, Monetary Losses that the Civilized world have to suffer before the Liberal Mindset of their World Policies becomes unmistakenly obvious to really be the Cruelest Hoax on Mankind?
I am glad that our Military was able to outwit that Dummy in the White House and Manage to Rescue Captain Phillips regardless of Barry Soetoro's personal Disdain for our Armed Forces, and White people in General. Maybe instead of trying to defeat Barry Soetoro Head on, we could should follow the way our Military deals with that Dopey Lib, and just manuever him into positions of which he has No Choice but the one we require of him, even if that means he gets to Gloat/Boast over his Expert Judgement in his making these Decisions.
It seems that there is Plenty of Room up Barry Soetoro's Backside for more than one Ventriloquist controling the levers of Deception!!!

In this instance, no matter how I feel personally about the President, he did the right thing and it turned out, for now, well. I wish that this action had been sooner and I wish that a certain Navy Capitan had "A pair" last Friday. The commander in the field should have made this call but absent that Obama did the right thing. oIo's for you??

Great shooting, and the Navy Seals earned their money. Three head shots, three kills, and the other pirate lept out of the boat. Next step, predator drones tracking pirates back to their houses, and blowing up their houses, ships, wives and children. Let the dogs lose on these scum.

I was ****** the first time the american jumped out of the boat, they should have been waiting that time with 20 snipers or frog men underneath. Luckily, they got another chance to blow their heads off. -

It's been reported that a plane, full of Republican 2012 hopefuls, was shot at, as it left the Mogadishu airport. The incident occured shortly after the three pirates were sniped and the American hostage was freed. A Somalian airport worker was overheard saying "These Americans could not master "Weapons for a hostage" in Somali"

An airport worker was overheard complaining "These Americans could not master WEAPONS FOR A HOSTAGE in Somali". This was after a plane full of 2012 Republican presidential hopefuls took small weapons fire, taking off from the Mogadishu airport.
