Also known as "Holmes", he dominated the skateboarding scene for most of the 1980's and was the ultimate vert skater. As vert faded out of favor in the 1990's, so did Hosoi.

I think everyone skater back in the day had a Hosoi poster in his or her room doing a tweeked out method or judo air. That or his signature move the "christ air". Talk about some old school, he use to give Tony Hawk a run for his money back in the 80s.

Personally, my favorite veteran is freestyle skater Rodney Mullen. To this day, it is hard to find a person that can do what he can do on a skateboard and make it look so easy. I dont even think I have ever seen this guy crash or even mess up a trick.

I stand corrected. In the video I posted he falls off he board twice. Once when a dog started chasing him, and twice at the end of the video, he stumbles off after completing his trick. Still, the fluency he has doing multiple tricks in a row is just amazing.
