According to Obama's 7th circuit nominee praying in the name of Jesus is bad »
Posted By k9kssr 6 months, 4 weeks ago in NewsRecently Obama nominated David Hamilton to fill a vacancy on the federal bench in the 7th circuit. Democrats have moved quickly to ram-rod this appointment through the Senate with as little debate and scrutiny as possible. Republicans have responded by boycotting the nomination hearings. Which you heard about, right? I mean, surely the media wouldn’ t let a pitched battle over one of Obama’ s judicial appointments go unnoticed, would they?

FTA: When the Democrats and Obama were put into office in 2006 and 2008 respectively they promised open, honest and transparent government. Does attempting to fast-track through the Senate a far-left, uber-liberal federal judge with troubling ties to vote fraud groups like ACORN in order to avoid public/Republican scrutiny and criticism sound like open, honest and transparent leadership?

Like your open, honest and transparent assessment of ACORN being a " vote fraud group"?
Ridiculous.
His ruling stated that using a generic reference to God instead of a specific reference to the Christ as God would be okay.
I know you Repugnant Cons are stupid, but sometimes I wonder if it's just intentional ignorance. -

I don't think the problem in this case is about the far left or right so much as church-state separation. Ideology will always be an element where humans are concerned, but if we strengthen our ability to stop any extremists from seizing power, we're ahead of the game.

I agree with keeping religion out of politics. But I don't understand why he said it would be okay to mention Allah but not Jesus. I agree that Allah is technically just the Arabic word for God, but it is associated with Islam and therefore a certain religion. Just seemed a little weird.

Hate to break this to you, but I'm of Lebanese descent, & a Christian. & in case you're wondering, we speak Arabic. And, yes, we pray to Allah because it IS Arabic for God. There are a LOT of us Arabic-speaking (unfortunately, I only speak a little Arabic) Christians in this country alone, not to mention in Lebanon, Palestine, Syria, & other Arabic-speaking countries. And we do NOT associate Allah w/the Islam. That's a western fantasy.
Kind of like a medrasa is an Islamic fundamentalist school. My mother was taught in a medrasa, along w/her sister & brother, friends, & later nieces. And they were, & still are, just schools.
And, guess what, even if you're in school in the US, you still go to a madrasa, or l'ecole or escuela, or even a "??". <<sorry, was japanese characters>>
Just thought you'dl ike to know....
(PS - won't be able to respond any more. at work & can't blog here) L8r

You teliban con fundamentalist right wing morons will never understand this, due to your pathetic brainwashing and cowardice, your afraid to apply even one bet of logic to your house of cards, since it would immediately fall apart.
Cons only respect the right to freedom of religion and seperation of church and state if it increases their money or power. Relativism for cowards and the ignorant hayseeds. I give you what is left of the repug party of redneck morons.-

The only ignorant hayseed here is you. You don't even have enough respect for your fellow mans beliefs to not come on here and belittle them. Even worse is the bigotry in your "redneck" comments. You ought to apologize to your brain for allowing it to go unused for so long.

After looking at who posted this, I have to wonder about the accuracy of this article. (I've seen so many lies and misquotes from Klarisa that I take whatever is said with a grain of salt) But I'll have to say that if he is as liberal as this makes him appear, He shouldn't be appointed.

WHAT THE JUDGE SAID, simply paraphrases this nominally important American. This quote should have cleared up the 1st Amendment debate long ago.
Reply
"Where the preamble declares, that coercion is a departure from the plan of the holy author of our religion, an amendment was proposed by inserting "Jesus Christ," so that it would read "A departure from the plan of Jesus Christ, the holy author of our religion;" the insertion was rejected by the great majority, in proof that they meant to comprehend, within the mantle of its protection, the Jew and the Gentile, the Christian and Mohammedan, the Hindoo and Infidel of every denomination."
-Thomas Jefferson, Autobiography, in reference to the Virginia Act for Religious Freedom
The entire premise of the article is shattered by the judges own words. He is simply talking about religious freedom. We are in for one h*ll of a time from these nuts in the next four years. Out of power they seem to have plenty of time to b*tch! The dishonesty of their debate has rarely been exceeded. -

I want to make it clear that I NEVER want a state sponsored religion in this country, but for those that believe to have the right to openly worship (regardless of which religion they choose) this includes 'citizens' that have jobs in the government which BTW have the same 'rights' as the rest of us pertaining to freedom of religion.
