Goldberg Shocks Hannity By Giving Obama Credit »
Posted By jovial 7 months, 2 weeks ago in NewsThe graphic under Sean Hannity reads "Spinning the Pirate Crisis." I guess you've got to give Fox News credit for honesty, because that's just what they are doing: spinning the heroic rescue of Capt. Phillips to make sure the White House receives no credit whatever and, if possible, comes out of it looking slightly worse than the pirates. Shockingly, Bernie Goldberg of all people isn't having it. He accuses Hannity and others on the right of doing the same thing to Obama that liberals did to George W. Bush -- disparaging him even when he did something good. Hannity lobs Goldberg a softball, inside and to the right, but Bernie doesn't swing:

Great clip. What do you know, that Goldberg fellow has some class, too bad he won't be on Hannnity again. I love how some folks on the right have been complaining how Obama didn't say boo about the pirates until after the rescue.
Reply
Duh. Had Obama said something like, "we will get those pirates, alive or dead", the outcome might have ended differently than it did, and do you think Hannity would then be saying it wasn't any of Obama's responsiblity? Ha! -

Obama could have jumped from a helicopter and with his bare hands killed every one of the pirates.. and ripped out their hearts and eaten them.. and there are some that would say.. he took too much time..
like the guy said.. the good guy is alive.. the bad guys are dead..
all's well that ends well unless you're just an Obama hater.. -

My Dear Fellow Propeller-Heads,

Mr. Goldberg did indeed tell it like it is, and I'm not just referring to his remarks about "Obama and the Pirates" (with apologies to the creator of "Terry and the Pirates"). One cannot pick and choose, as those pleased with Mr. Goldberg now must be equally pleased about his past frankness vis-a-vis The Clinton's and the Left in general. Or is your collective praise for a person's honesty reserved only for those things you like? That would make of you HYPOCRITES, wouldn't it?
I would have LOVED to seen your reactions when Goldberg's other opinions appeared in print concerning the Liberals in our midst.
As greenmac has posted: "There is nothing like telling that makes the man."-

Yes, and no. I will honestly praise you when you do something that I like, but that doesn't mean that I'll praise all your actions. I can like and agree with some of your actions, and even admire you for them, without actually liking you as a whole, or liking all your actions. Sometimes bad people do good deeds and vice versa, and it doesn't make you a hypocrite if you evaluate each action on its own merits. -

Um...liking someone's honesty and candor doesn't make you a hypocrite. You might want to look that word up in a dictionary. I know it's a big one but you can do it.

I dont' have to like everything that someone I like says. I'm not a republican. I have a mind and can make it up when I choose. And I can like one thing that a man says and not like another thing that the same man says.
Understand?

Pecossam - if one disagrees with someone else does that mean that he must always be at odds with everything they say? That's what you implied - And that's what makes reactionaries like you so repugnant - that stick up your ass keeps you from bending - but it also acts as a swivel for you to spin everything on.

The pirate thing backfired on the Republicans. Another false flag aimed at tipping public opinion or distract. Most people I talk to don't give a rats butt about the whole thing.

I wouldn't be surprised if the right wing elitists along with some "operative" planned and the whole thing. The captain does look like the "ops type." -

Sean Hannity just doesn't get it.

I gave Bush credit when we went after Osama Bin Laden. I disagreed when he went into Iraq.
I completely disagreed with his way that he ran things because he took control of the wrong things and lost control of the important things. I just really felt he was incompetent.
Now Obama has done some things I don't agree with, but he has done some things I do agree with to.
Taking out the pirates is a good thing. One that needs to be done more often. Ya don't give in to criminals whether they be pirates or corporate.
Maybe that is why Hannity is steamed. Maybe he sees that Obama will not be soft on the corporate pirates either. -

You ask: "If one disagrees with someone else does that mean that he must always be at odds with everything they say? That's what you implied." I never implied anything of the sort, as I referred to Mr. Goldberg's "frankness", his refreshing non-partisan honesty. Your lack of comprehension is telling. Are you not of the opinion that political honesty (and honesty in general) should always be admired, by those on both sides of the issues? Mr. Goldberg was called many awful things by the Left and Liberals when he wrote truthfully about them, and yet now he is being praised by many of the same people for his comments to Mr. Hannity (whom I did not mention in my posting, as I AM NOT a big fan of his show) concerning Obama's handling of the recent "pirate incident". That is both inconsistent and disingenuous. Either Mr. Goldberg is fair and even-handed or he is not. Make-up your mind. Or do you only find him to be credible when it is something you like? I would remind you that Mr. Goldberg was first and foremost a News Reporter/Journalist of the "Old School"; he reported things as they were, not as he would have them be. A quality that is sadly lacking in today's so-called "Journalists".
As for your ad hominem remarks, I refuse to lower myself to your (and the Left's in general) tactics. Aren't you the people always calling for "civil discourse"? The hypocrisy I mentioned in my initial posting shines-on through you again. Thanks for making my point, aceofspades1.-

"Obama and the Pirates" (with apologies to the creator of "Terry and the Pirates").
I find it interesting that you equivocate President Obama’s handling of the recent “pirate incident” with a comic strip,“Terry and the Pirates” . I’m sure Capt. Phillip’s family hold’s his actions in higher regard.
I guess we will have to disallow your ad hominem remarks concerning President Obama’s successful rescue effort. Your self-righteous indignation doesn’t escape any of us. It shines through ever so brightly! -

Once in a while I'll check out Fox News and I'll even watch Hanity perform his craft and try to be objective of it.

I do not think Hannity ever realized the irony of his position. He said that by law, Obama, as commander-in-chief, is obligated to handle the situation. Therefore, he deserves no credit for a successful outcome. It was just his job.
Reply
Conversely, Bush, as commander-in-chief, was obligated to handle the 9/11 crisis. If Bush had indeed caught Osama bin Laden, then Hannity would be obligated to say that Bush deserves no credit, BECAUSE IT WAS BUSH'S DUTY TO DO SO ANYWAY.
As it turned out, Bush failed miserably by failing to capture OBL and by entangling our country in the quagmire of Iraq. So by Hannity's own criterion, Bush is the world's biggest failure because he failed to carry out what was his legal obligation to do so. -
