    Sorry to tell you that we do the same in the US.. We have schools with off duty cops and there are schools that have police departments inside the school itself. No difference.

  They are usually guys with experience of youth work.There have been the odd occasions, where untrained police and military are used,which is way out of line.
  Most schools in the UK have no security people in them though.
